Do check your noise levels. Bedford are really arsey. I clock 96dB at every track I have been to, except Bedford who say I am 106dB. That is a big increase on a log scale!

TVR. Bedford. I've seen two turn up. I've seen none pass the sound check. A Chim with bolt on silencers got turned away.

So as above you need to be really sure you're within the rules.

It's all down, (generally with a standard exhaust) to keeping the revs to 4500 at the very most!

It is so easy to let them rise slightly above.

Keep a close eye on the rev counter and raise them very slowly, take your time as if you're not carefull, as the revs approach 4500, they will exceed that figure for the same throttle opening, you have to back off the throttle as it rises.

Mine normally clocks 96 or thereabouts with the main cat in.

I now run all cats out and it is noisier but I still achieved 99 at Snetterton recently.

I had no problem passing at Bedford.
The adding of bolt on cans can lower as much as 5 db so anyone who fails with a pair of these must have a very noisy exhaust!

No

But it can be down to the tester. The first time I went, I got a huge smile from the guy and "fantastic noise". Second time was fail. IIRR there are three or four drive by mics - one just after West 1 (just after pit exit, inside the track). Use the first few laps to spot them. Don't drift, and don't give it the beans. TVRs do pass.

I had my standard 4.0 Chim checked at Bedford last Summer prior to booking a track day there, it passed the static 4000rpm test with just a couple of db to spare. I never did get to the track day thanks to work so I don't know if it would have failed the drive by.

My Cerbera 4.5 with standard system passed at 98db. (6k redline, tested at 4k) I did have trackday cans in the boot as well. For the afternoon I ran the exhaust without silencers and didn't get blackflagged.

There was another Cerb there with full system and he tested 107db. With the silencers he only tested 106 he went home.

This was a great day, I just did the afternoon, best standard of driving I've seen on a TD. The track is awesome too, nice wide exits to get the power on early. The mid straight chicane is my favourite...

Hi Matt,

Was a good day! Assuming that was you in the blue 911 turbo? Great circuit and would agree with you on the standard, didn't have a problem all day other than my own lack of ability. No problem at all with the noise levels. Have to say everyone at Bedford was top drawer. Really nice atmosphere, great facility, staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Hi there, i was in the blue 911, great to experience the cars features you can't always appreciate on the road. TBH if I had the option I would prefer ceramics, just to be sure..which car did you have? There were some great vehicles there, WRX, CSL, CLIO, 205 and many more. I'm intrigued to know how Michelin cups handle, hopefully they also have a progressive response near the limit like standard tyres. 'albeit with more grip' cheers for now...
