Steering wheel : leather repair/recover

Hi all,

My TVR is by no means concours because I enjoy using it, but, I do want it to look smart because it shouts 'look at me' and some things need attention - such as the worn through leather on the steering wheel.

Does anyone have someone they would recommend for a repair to a 3cm x 1cm bald patch which has occured during my ownership to my surprise because I'm not a white knuckle driver or have acid hands.

Who has done your little bits of leather trim. BIG THANKS in advance for any replies. Ant.

I just have mine redone by dc trim ex tvr chaps ! Excellent job , couldn't find anyone else to do it !

Just sent my Wheel for a full re-trim to D&C yesterday, Prices are much better than any locals guys i could find to do it and that was with carriage as well.

Does it actually need recovering, or do you just need to refresh the leather finish. Have a look at the refinishing work done by the Furniture Clinic. I had the full interior for my Maserati done by their Gateshead branch and the whole lot looks like new and for a fraction of the cost of a retrim.

Mine too. Very nice job on my cerbera wheel. They do great mats too

To The Surveyor, it's gone beyond colouring in because the leather has completely worn through.

Thanks for all your responses and it seems price will be in the region of £150 - £180 when all the costs are added up.

I wouldn't get it painted. My wheel was painted by a previous owner so not only was it bald at the top where the paint had come off but it was horrible and shiny elsewhere. looks like a new wheel now and feels so nice

I had the same idea but it turned out buying an new one (160 gbp at Driftworks) was cheaper then repolstery (with alcantara in this case)

My D&C wheel i am going to get a full re-trim in That Ocean Green and black with white. I have black Carpets already but have a idea of how it will look black being the main colour with green and white breaking it up i think it will work. (I hope) lol
