Iveh ad the tam for almost a year now and have always kept it covered with a stormforce car cover. No issues up until late last year when something , I believe foxes, started ripping great holes in it. The holes were taped up both inside and out but never really worked and I think dust and dirt have got under the cover.

Just got back from two week work trip so after shoving the rank socks in the washing machine my attention obviously turned to the baby.

Good news is that after two weeks she still started fine. Bad news is I think the cover has scratched the paint a bit. Thinking I need to dump this cover as its not going to ever get any better now since the dirty great holes were put in it ( not the cause of scratches as different places). Was thinking about one of those covers which just covet the roof/ windows as Im pretty sure she will leak round the hood and I don't have a garage. Quick google search has just left me confused though so thought I would turn to ph for advice once more.

Any ideas where I need to be looking?

I soon discovered that a full cover does much more harm than good when my Chimaera used to live outside. Any dirt between cover and paint and you are going to get scratches.

You really just want something to keep the water out. I used a Leven cover which just came down to door top level and so didn't contact the paintwork. Don't know if they are still available though as its been a few years.

i have a classic additions stretch to fit cover. bloody marvellous. not cheap but its the only cover to stay on when the car is on the trailer on the motorway. i recommend them, they advertise in sprint. you probably want a different cover to mine though unless its very windy. talk to them, they were v helpful to me. i am not connected with them in any way.

Do you guys strap your covers down tightly or just leave them loose?

I've got a monsoon cover and strap it down quite tight, no additional scratches/swirling to the paintwork that wasn't there before as far as I can tell..

I have this on my S3 which lives outside, the stormforce I think its called. It's not 100% waterproof (although not far off in reality) and is breathable so any condensation that forms evaporates through the cover very quickly, in addition to that I have a Leven 100% waterproof cover that covers the cabin down to the bottom of the windows, this sits under the breathable cover, in addition I have two of those white damp proof things (get them in Halfords) in the footwells and without wanting to tempt fate everything bone dry to date. I do however make sure the car is clean before covering and have had no scratches to date, it also keeps prying eyes and bird ste off!

Cheers for the advice/links guys. I have gone for the classic additions hood cover. Fingers crossed it will be enough to keep her in fairly good condition. Had to put the full cover back on this weekend due to the snow. Roll on summer eh.
