Blimey! Diced with death this evening.

Beautiful country run on my way home from work, so I know its twists and bends like the back of my hand and can give it a bit of welly...

Pootling along happily over a bit of brow (not quite airborne ) only to be confronted by some plonker doing a three-point turn, exactly square on and taking up every inch of road!

If I hadn't been on the ball and doing a (reasonably) safe speed he would have been kitty litter!

Anyway, I managed to stop in the nick of time and, skid marks and screaching galore, simply carried on, leaving this chap in the puff of smoke left by my tyres. But even though I happened to be driving quite respectably, the geazer who'd decided to park side on immediately over a blind brow was still shaking his head and tutting at me... Nutter!

Gotta say, I actually quite enjoyed it and the TVR was absolutely superb - held its line beautifully and stopped in no time at all. I was very impressed and felt perfectly safe - no problem at all for the British beast!

Close shaves, anyone else?

That really anoys me we people asume because you're driving a sports car that makes a fair bit of noise, you are naturally breaking the speed limits and driving like a tw@t.

I get dirty looks driving into our estate from time to time, sort of "Slow down looks" when I'm actually doing about 20mph, usually have some nob in an X5 crawling all over my boot too.

Exactly! I always drive safely - sure, fast when it's safe, but slowly through villages, etc. One time, I was doing way below the 30 speed limit through a tiny village and my car's giving it all the backfire, etc. and I get not one but three people in a few hundred metres giving me dirty looks! One old guy was shaking his fist at me and holding up three fingers (or was that two) to signal that it's a 30 limit.

And this happens all the time.

Just goes to prove that TVR's look fast even when they are doing 20mph.

I was travelling along minding my own business one dusktime when I see a doddery old dog wandering about in the middle of the road. As I'm driving at an appropriate speed for the conditions, I see it in good time, get half the speed off quite moderately and try to decide if it's going to head for the kerb or not. Dog stays put; I go through the gap at about 15mph.

Owner is on pavement waving his arms at me to slow down. Something snaps. F*ck me, I think, I'm not having that, I missed his stupid dog which shouldn't have been allowed to wander about in the road in the first place. He's the irresponsible person here and he's having a pop at me.

So I stop, back up and wind the window down. Half way through his first sentence about speed limits I let fly. 'Do I tell you how to ***ing walk? Well don't tell me how to ****ing well drive then!'. He beat a hasty retreat.

Maybe next time he'll keep his dog on a lead and his opinions to himself. There are too many people minding other people's business these days.

For your information is is an offence to allow any animal (esp dogs) to wander the highway. The owner was 100% at fault.
