Fire extinguisher deal at Lidl

FYI Lidl currently doing one of their weird and wonderful deals on Italian made powder fire extinguishers for 8 sterlings (ABC class). Includes a mount cage. A good idea for the TVR and/or garage, and it's not Chinese made. Result. JR

Def Lidl. Although both are well worth a wander through just to check out the funny brands and mind-boggling stocking choices.

My advice with any fire in a fibreglass car would be just to get the fook out of there - you only get a few seconds with those small extinguishers anyway.

I bought 2 off them one for the garage and may as well have one in the car.

C02 extinguishers are of a limited use outside - as by it's nature it will disperse into the atmosphere before being of much help - in a garage it will probably work - in the car - probably not.

When fighting fires trackside we use powder to smother the fire, followed by foam to cool and stop the fuel from vaporising.

SO I'd reccomend powder - although it does make a nice mess - oh and don't breathe it in .. makes exlax look poor...

stocking choices?are these for your better half's legs,or to put over your head.Do they do stretchy one's cos mrs sponge has some chunky pins on hersainsburys for the card,flowers,and cheap dvd

Well popped down to Lidl after work and picked one up

Also bought one today, not sure where it will go though.

It won't be that much use stored in the bag of useful things in the boot, so will look at secure options in the front.

An airport taxi round my neck of the woods took someone out to the airport and returned early morning for another customer.

Had an hour to kill, so had a kip and set an alarm. When it went off, it made him jump and he kicked the fire extinguisher, which promptly discharged in the car.

Silly sod went round to the second customer with a car full of powder.

My first IAM candidate (I am a wheel-shuffling TVR owner) had a powder extinguisher attached to the side of the passenger footwell. A passenger (thankfully not when I was in the car) managed to set it off.

If it is fitted in the cabin it needs to be out of the way from accidental contact. It also needs to be well secured, otherwise it could be dangerous in a big accident.

Mine sits just infront of my drivers seat on the floor, securely fastened in it's holder. I think it needs to be relatively easy to reach, quickly. As you never know how important that might be if your were to have an accident, God forbid.

Thanks for the heads up with this thread - mine was due a replacement and I have got one from Lidl today.
