So what makes a 'Supercar'?

Promised my daughter an answer by 4pm today so help me out foks 
When I were a lad it was broadly speaking a car capable of over 150mph, now this speed is an indicator that the revlimiter should be kicking in on most performance cars, what are the criteria for a 'Supercar' these days?

In a cynical mood today:
A supercar shouts 'look at me, me, ME!'
A supercar is what footie stars and stinking rich collectors reward themselves with, rather than a serious driving tool.
A supercar is the luridly coloured thing that Impreza P1, 911 C4S and Lancer Evo drivers see disappear into their rearview mirrors on typical UK roads.

With so many extremely fast, good looking and moderately priced wagons around I think we have to more strict than in the past.
By 80's standards there are a huge number of 'supercars' available nowadays, however I think we have to use the F1 as the modern benchmark:
1) Devastating looks that lead to no confusion as to what the car is.
2) 200+ MPH
3) Costs more than the average London house price (£242K)
4) Posters of vehicle must be available in normal highstreet shops.
The last is probably the most important. If the car is not on the wall of the average British 10 year olds bedroom then it cannot possibly be a 'Supercar'.
