Alex, (alexdaredevilz) found out the hard way unfortunately.

Knowing him, he was only hurrying to work while trying to avoid any "rear end action"!

A warning to all that they can bite back.

He's fine, a sore neck and a slightly bruised ego, the car less so.

This post is with his full consent.

I'm sure we all wish his car a speedy repair!

Yep, Mike,

Firstly, glad he's OK. The car can be repaired.

From time to time it's a sobering experience to see a post like this! I went to the Hants TVRCC meeting on Sunday. Coming back, exactly like the picture, joining the M3, just squeezed the throttle a bit more to get into lane 2 and the back wheel hit the greasy white lane markings. The back end stepped out, but I caught it OK.....All the stuff from Ride Drive (and the session at Longcross) came flooding back.

Treat them with respect!
Nick

Good to hear Alex is OK and I hope the car isnt damaged too badly.
I know Alex is a little younger than some of us and hope he learns from this.

Experiences good and bad teach us all and I like to think I can 'smell' an incident coming up but things can go very wrong very easily to all of us.
Be careful out there people. Dont spoil what promises to be a great year of tivving fun.

Sorry to see this but very glad he is OK - apart from the usual bruised ego.
It is a very slippy time of year and I always found it worse in my old Chim in these conditions than I do now in my T350, a lack of low down torque can be a good thing at times.
Unfortunately it's something that can happen to any of us and experience, whilst it helps isn't a guarantee it won't be you next so please be careful out there this time of year folks.

I see Alex is P/boro based, this makes it another local Tiv crash as theres another near Sandy in the spotted forum.

Mind you, thank God the tree was there... he could have ended up sideways to on-coming traffic on that dual carriageway.

Looks like there's a ditch there, but going past that doesn't bear thinking about.

Ouch - glad Alex is ok. It is so easy to do that, right foot has to be extra light on cold damp roads.

Just spoken to Alex,

He seems OK, all things considered! He's not having much luck. His Mrs' Clio has just died and their mini is still a 'project'... Looks like he'll need the bus timetable app for his phone...

deffo not as bad as it could have been tho...

speedy recovery mate!

Maybe Alex used his awesome driving skill combined with his young quick wits to use the tree as a stop.

My sympathies to you Alex, I hope our little chat helped to put this in perspective.

You may well feel st today, and tomorrow, perhaps for a while yet, but it does pass.

As you take control of the situation & get to grips with sorting the damage that feeling will subside, eventually you will look back and see it wasn't all that bad in the end.

The truth is we're all one patch of diesel or a fraction too much right foot away from doing the same.

You've just been unlucky mate, it could have been any one of us.

The difference is you drive your Chimaera to work every morning & most of us don't.

That means (especially at this time of year) the odds are not in your favour when compared with the rest of us who have our TVR's tucked up in a garage and take the Euro Box to work.

Today's little mishap is no reflection of your driving skills, it's more a consequence of having the balls to use your TVR on cold winter mornings & I salute you for that.

You'll get it sorted mate, & sooner than you think.

Wishing you the best of luck for a speedy recovery and a quick repair, doesnt look too badly damaged and the bevelled kerbs should have reduced the impact on the wheels and chassis.

Any of us that drive in this weather take this risk i gues and we are all susceptable to it. I came a cropper twice on my motorbike in this weather, sometimes is just bites you.

Used my Tuscan this morning and it was a great deal slipper than it looked, quite unsettled at times.
