If you look on this web site, it states New web Site coming on 1st March, it might be the case of stop trading as company X and start trading as company Y

I don't think so. The owner is quite ill and as a result the business has had to close, from what I've heard I don't think there's anything 'sinister' going on.If you look on this web site, it states New web Site coming on 1st March, it might be the case of stop trading as company X and start trading as company Y
Hi,
As I am part of the extended family as it were, I feel I can shed some more light now.
Richard is very ill again and will be away for some weeks possibly months. As Dulfords is a sole trader business (and banks are not very friendly to small sole traders with long term illnesses) no one can sign cheques or deal with the bank. Not even his Mrs. So as a necessity the business must close.
TVRcarparts has also gone I beleive, the website was a pre-event cover page.
Loads of work has been done over the last week or so to see if things can carry on, but it is now clear to everyone that they can't.
Customers who need to pickup their cars have been informed (if they can be got hold of) and receivers will be in soon.
Its a sad loss to the TVR community in general not least to Rich himself and his family.
We all hope he returns to good health soon and can get back to his family.
As I understand it Big Col (Dulfords senior Tech and my race mechanic) is starting up on his own with atleast one other guy at customer requests (including my pleading) and will be looking after cars if required.
Should anyone want his contact details, please let me know via my inbox.
I for one hope that, when the dust settles, something can rise again and we don't lose all that experience and customer service many of us have grown to value so much.
My thanks to Rich, Col, Mike, Chris, Phil, Neil and all the other guys for their help over the last 12 years.

I'm not sure it is the banks fault Paul - from the TVRCC forum it appears that the company was run as a sole trader and that effectively means that one person deals with the bank, signs cheques, etc. - the downside of that is that if that person (in this case Richard) is taken very ill and can't do it then everything collapses. Very sad - I've not dealt with Dulford as such but only with Neil at TVR Car Parts and he was always very helpful so I do hope that Richard recovers and something will rise from the ashes.

Later: just noted your other post Paul - didn't realise I was saying what that said ...

I heard the news last night, very sad. Richard and his team were top blokes and always treated you fairly. They did a fantastic job on my engine rebuild and treated our families TVRs loads of respect.
I was going to get the Tuscan MOT'd and serviced next month and there dosn't seem to be any where down this neck of the woods anymore. Might get our friendly local garage to MOT it and I service it myself.
