Newbie needs Servicing (Steve Howard)
Discussion
Hello All, as relatively new Tvr owner have been lurking for a while but now need some help and advice re servicing in or near Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Chim is rapidly approaching the 30000 mark and this being the first service I will have had to do, am looking for some recommendations - keep hearing about this Demi God Steve Howard at Thames Valley Racing and am veering in that direction. However am also fairly close to Henley and not sure if there are the same benefits with a Tvr to keeping it main dealer serviced or whether a decent independent is just as adequate in the service book. Finally can someone offer (by email if needs be!) opinion of Thames Valley Racetech, from what I can gather this is old home of Steve and appear to be mixed reports since his departure.
So glad I stumbled across P/Heads and perhaps will get to meet some of you Berkshire lot at a get together sometime soon. Just as soon as the summer arrives!!

Steve Howard - Highly recommended. Used him for my Cerbera and he sorted it out (only a pity I had to sell it soon after - boo hoo). Dont use him now on my current Chimaera, only because I have changed job location and Austec (also very highly recommended) are just down the road.
Thames Valley Racetech - I'll send you a mail on this one.
Henley - Ditto.
Cheers,
Tommomic

Steve looks after both my cars....and I'm from Bristol....its worth the journey for the knowledge/experience....contacts for parts....and the prices are v.good too.
He also looks after 4 Tuscans in the challenge aswell.
have you had any experience of webbs for servicing etc as mine is going in there on Monday?
Recommend Steve Howard - but then you'd expect me to say that as he is chief engineer on my race car. Don't be put off by the slightly chaotic appearance of the workshop and yard!
BTW is work number has changed to 0118 970 6767.
I don't know anything about Racetech since Steve left I'm afraid.
Henley gets a few mentions on here. Will certainly be significantly more expensive than the two alternatives. And they seem to have a habit of using spray paint to mark nuts to indicate they have tightened them. Which annoyed the t1ts off me on my Griff when the chassis was covered in spray paint.

Big thumbs up for Steve.
He does all the stuff on my car that i can't be bothered to do myself, and the stuff i can do myself he gives me pointers.
He won't needlessly waste either - if it's fixable then why throw away money on a replacement?
All round top geezer.
VS
No affiliation, etc, just a (very) happy customer.
