This is great news.
Is this a sign on a change of heart at the factory? First they did what they said they would never do, and sold the two Speed 12 Cerbs, and now they have allowed someone to restore the white elephant.
Lets just hope that this is a indication that TVR will allow more prototypes/specials to be sold into private hands and kept as part of the history of TVR rather than being left to rot.
NB: The last S series car that TVR ever produced is still in the factory (in the repair shop). However is has now been robbed of a few parts... well what do you expect.

Great to hear a piece of TVR history is going to be restoed. More of the same I say, if the factory do not have the time to do these cars justice then letting them go to collectors is a sound decision IMHO 
.
Lake Do you have access to the last S at teh factory then
if so what spec is/was it and what date is on the chassis cross member under the radiator .

Hi there & thank you - just spent all day moving the White Elephant on the TVR trailer - long day!
Have taken loads of photos as kingcole and I will be doing all the way through the restoration.
The car will make an appearance on trailer at next months West Lancs TVRCC meeting at the Rigbye Arms - then it will disappear for a further 21 months until it's finished... A write up will appear in Augusts Sprint Mag..
Hoping to get the beast fired up on Sunday after BBWF - if we can get fuel to the engine....
Will keep you informed as to out progress!

Have just returned from the elephants secret location !
and as the Wedgeman already knows, I have a complete sense of deja-vu, having restored an early Tasmin myself that was in similar grotty condition to the elephant.
However my multi-tester does not have the same feelings of well being towards the car that I 'currently' have, as the wiring is in need of some slight attention! but the spanners will be out after BBWF this weekend and an attempt will be made to get the engine running.

No, I have no further info. It was just mentioned in passing by one of the factory workers from the body shop when RZD and I were up there last year. I think it got used by P Wheelers wife for a while, then got used as a factory hack (chip shop runs etc). It now resides in the body shop area. I was told a few bits had been robbed to fix other customer cars.
Apparently they also have other cars up there in boxes.
It nearly broke my heart then the guy said a few years ago he was ordered to chop one prototype up with an angle grinder and trow it in a skip.
As I said earlier, lets hope this is a sign of change for TVR and a few of these rare cars will make there way into collectors hands.

Hi John - if we can get the beasty going today then we shall certainly fire her up at the next West Lancs meet on Wednesday August 4th before we start to dissemble the monster.
kingcole & I were at the BBWF yesterday & someone mentioned that they had read that the car had been measured at an actual (not TVR figures!) 370bhp.. does that sound right to you??
