Good day out was had by all, so much so I think we are looking to go mob handed next year with more people camping over on the Saturday night.
Well the strip was more slippery than an eel on wet grass, and it was dry
.
Getting the power down was extremely difficult with wheel spin up to 3rd gear.
OK made the excuses now the results
, I had 5 runs myself; worse was 14.36 @ 101mph, best was 13.79 @ 110mph. Given the lack of grip I was pleased with the 13.79, just to check it wasn't a fluke I went straight around again and did a 13.86 @ 109mph.
I think Craig in the cerb was around 13.5, but I'll let him, Dusty and Shnozz post their own times. Not wishing to steal their thunder.

Harry was going so far up the rev range the fan belt fell off!
Agree the one on Top gear was more than disapointing.
Re the Alt belt, fell off more like flew off
.I've found that it tends to come off as it hits peak torque, sometimes but not very often
, I'm forever watching thegauges when pushing on . I have some polly V pullies'cogs' to convert it to a serp pulley arrangement in the very near future. I think the old skinny belt its at the end of it capabilities for this RV8 though. Harry

Funny you should say your passenger helped, my two fastest runs were after Tony (T88can) gave me back all the shite out of my boot he was looking after when he left. Obviously the additional 20Kgs int eh boot made the difference. Craig what 60' times did you get whilst practicing your starts, my best was 2.409.
Well your 13.5 without NoS makes my 13.79 from a lowly 4ltr RV8 makes me feel a lot happier

I did 2 runs (a fair attempt with the hangover and "chicken burger runs").
My times were both 13.something but my best of the two was
13.72 at 110mph
I was getting all wheelspin in first and second gear and it only felt like it really hooked up when in 3rd.
My first race was against a tuned Celica GT4 (newest model) who easily beat me off the line (4WD) but I then managed to beat before the end. Could hear his dumo valve my ear most of the way so I think we must have been fairly neck and neck.
Second race was against Shnozz which looks like we both go a good launch in the video but in truth there was still too much wheels spin.
I was trying to control it in my mind before each run bat as soon as those lights changed the red mist came down and I just tried to push the accelerator through the floor!

aha, I think DustyC said Hi but I must say I couldnt place you on Pistonheads so didnt come over. Lovely Ultima though, really did look stunning.

The Ultima looked great tearing down the strip.
Looking at these times of high-13's. From what I've read, Griff 500 book is about 12.8. Is this a completely unfeasible time then, or just achievable if you know the track and can feather the throttle exactly enough to be on, but not over, the limits of traction?
Reason is I'll probably take my Griff to Santa Pod at some point. I used to go regular in the FTO which did low 15's, and someone has turbo'd his FTO to do mid 13's. Being beaten by an FTO, even a turbo's one, would be a tad embarrasing given it's what I've upgraded from

My early serp griff 500 hand book says 12.2
The performance figures are always collected in near perfect conditions and probably by nearly braking a few cogs.
The most difficult thing is getting the traction down.
Its easy to do when practicing on a quiet safe road but as soon as you are next to that Christmas try with a thousand pairs of eye on you all the practice goes out the window and you just floor it!
For my best starts (in private) I didnt even touch the throttle whilst standing and then gradually squeezed it for the best pullaway. When you get it perfect the car really does launch so well.
Gives you a fantastic feeling too.
I reckon if you have a good standard car and you get the traction sorted then you could see mid to high 12's.
My 13.74 first run was constant wheelspin in first and second gear only really starting to pull in third.
You wont be needing 5th gear. The gear change will take away vital time so keep it in 4th and let it go above the 5500 rpm optimal shift.
(I changed between 5500 and 6000. We, I intended to but i think I may have eneded up changing when it felt right)

Tell me about it! I remember the first time I did Santa Pod in the FTO. Had practiced for ages at traffic lights dumping the clutch at 4000rpm, and on road tarmac that's fine. But on that stuff at drag strips it's really poor for standard road tyres, and I ended up stationary, wheels spinning for a good 2 seconds before I realised what was going on
Had a great time, though would have been nice to have more time to do other things like watch some other runs rather than having to constantly wheel the cars forward to stop a few of the chavs pushing in from their self generated 3rd queuing lane 
Does anyone know what the final "results" were for the RWYB part as my mate in the green Locost ZX12 ran a 12.5 which was the quickest time of the day last year evidently (not including all the proper drag cars or bikes obviously!).

My best 60ft time printed was 0.000 and a 13.5?? but there machines were playing up.
After that I managed a 2.3?? which I think was the one with clair in the car.

My son Matt got the fastest time.. (thats my boy!!) at 12.7, I got 12.89!
