Cerbera V8 Racing with TVR Power 2012
Discussion
Pre-season testing has gone very well and the car is looking great with its new paint job from TVR Power!
The first race will be at Donnigton Park on the 28-29th of April. Gt cup has had some great entrys this year and we will be racing against some very quick cars! Mosler's, Ferrari 458's, various Porsche's and a Mclaren GT3! Cant wait!!!
We have added extra front aero to the car and bigger tyres all round. Andy at APM has done a great job on setting all the suspension up and of course the 4.7 AJP is running sweet! All of this meant at the last test session we went faster than we have ever gone before on harder compound tyres!
On the 3rd of April we are doing a passenger day at Brands Hatch. Its a normal track day so would be good to see some other TVR's on track! The track day is being run by MSV with a noise limit of 105db. Come down and have some fun!
Cheers

Excellent news Mike, I KNEW there was more to come from the car.
Faster from harder tyres...sounds VERY promising as that was the achilles heal IMHO
Look forward to seeing how the car moves on this year as you've moved into a tough group there, maybe the toughest! And all on a shoestring budget (not being rude here, its probably a lot of money but a shoestring in that company) Epic stuff Mike, keep it up.

(BTW how big are the tyres now? Are we talking porker 315s 330s?

)Hi Mike,
I just read your link. Exciting stuff! Just a quick Q, is this likely to be able to keep with the 458's in the series? Can a 20 year old plastic car from a shed up North really compete with 60 years of F1 technology at its modern day pinnacle?
If so that's pretty bloody amazing!!

Well, if you see what sort of cars Mike left behind him last year, I wouldn't bet against it...
The thing to remember is that you need to balance '60 years of F1 experience' with 'needs to appeal to 60 year old bankers and rich Arab kids looking for a trinket to underscore their success, and ideally not wipe them out when they're being less than capable behind the wheel as we'd like repeat custom from them' - I'd say that about evens out.

When I'm older and telling tales of daring does in the old folks home, I'll be able to tell the other gimmers that I used to race with someone famous
Well done Mike, you and your dad deserve sucess in bucket loads.
Thanks for the comments guys! Tyres are now 315/640 all round Andy!
Will be good to see the T350 on track make sure you come and say Hi.
Regarding keeping pace with the 458's etc...... The honest answer is that we are unsure but will give it a bloody good try! We are comfortably quicker than the Ferrari F430 and Porsche 996 variants so it seems like the next logical step.... We will know more after the first qualifiing session of the first race!
The power limit for this class is 475bhp per ton. We will map the engine to be safe on fueling and will be within this figure.

Just a quick post to say thanks to Mike and his Dad for the passenger laps yesterday. It was great to see the refreshed car looking as good as it does, and the new additions working well. Having seen the car progress from its first days of racing to now, I have to say both car and driver have come a long way and the combo is now F**king quick.
Mike kindly took me out for a few hot laps and I have to say, I've been in some fast cars in my time, but I don't think I've ever whitnessed that much grip on track before. I guess that's aero for you, but its very, very impressive from the passenger seat! I know there's some stiff competition this year with some very expensive metal being wheeled out, but I think the Cerb is more than capable of raising a few eyebrows.
Thanks again guys!

Couldn't get time off work, so gutted I missed out on the hot laps - would have been good to compare with the hot laps I had at MBW on Sunday
Sounds like Donnington the same weekend as Chatsworth (only about and hour apart) is mandatory now to see some serious TVR racing talent (car and driver) and to give Mike our full hearted support.
Luckily I don't work Sat/Sun so I can make that one !
Mike - whats the feedback - how were the lap times ??? In with a shout this year ??

No reason why yours shouldn't be similar Nick...;)
Looking forward to seeing the Cerb out again this year.
Yeah this began to dawn on me as Mike flew through paddock hill bend at what seemed like an impossible speed. I thought, hmm I may actually have to do this when (if??) my car gets finished! Really fired me up to give my build a kick up the arse though. I NEED to have a go!Looking forward to seeing the Cerb out again this year.
Thanks to everyone who came down. Was a good fun day!
Nick i'm glad you enjoyed the laps! Its nice to hear another racer say how quick she is...
The car feels the best it ever has and yes we are certainly in with a shout! Cant wait for Donington on the 28/29th.
Couple of pitures for you.
