Silent Meta Alarm!

Having picked up my Griff 500 last Friday, I've just tested my alarm (waving arm in when roof off), and it activates the alarm (hazard lights-a-blazing), but no sound - not a peep! Have tried the panic too, hazards, no peep.
Is it possible it's a loose connection, is it a common problem? It's obviously not totally goosed as I can set it off, but can I replace just the siren (and for how much), or do I need a completely new system installing?
