Coming back to the TVR fold (hopefully)!!!!

Hi TVR owners! I am hoping to within the next few months be back in the TVR fold! Wahoo! I had a 4.2 Cerbera in a beautiful metalic aubergine colour back in 2005/2006 and had to sell it to get some money together to get a bigger house! I always said I'll have another....but didn't think I would have to wait 6 years! God that's gone quick!! Anyway....I'm posting on here to find out some fellow drivers' views on my choices, and some insurance questions. When I used to have my Cerb I had a company car so the TVR was 'my' main and only insured car. Now I don't have that luxury! So, who do you guys who have a TVR as your second car insure with? As I don't want to be stung for a ridiculous policy as I have no NCD on the second car as I'll be keeping that on the daily drive!
My next conumdrum is, do I get another Cerb albeit the 4.5, or do I get a Tuscan? I know which one 'should' be more reliable (engine wise) and I know which one would be the 'better' choice due to its (puny) back seats (I have a little boy now too so being able to take the family out would mean it'd get more use!), however I do love the look and sound of a Tuscan. I've not driven the Tuscan or a 4.5 cerb, but can't see that being much more different to the 4.2. I have a budget of around £15k to spend on the TVR.
Any opinions/real life experiences would be much appreciated! Looking forward to getting back into the fold!!!

If you have no no claims to use then a classic policy might be worthwhile? Although some insurers will mirror what you have.
Which to choose? Difficult, They are both great cars, personally I've always felt 'more in control' of the Cerbera than I did a Tuscan, the Tuscan just felt a little bit like it anted to kill me. For fun. Although the one I drove was standard and the Cerb runs on Nitrons.
I guess as you've had a Cerb then a Tuscan is a nice option, I'd find it difficult to call, but given the family aspect would probably go the Cerbera route.

Re the insurance - Classicline would be my first port of call, they've given me the best price for a couple of years. I've got donkeys years of NCB tied up on my daily runner. Classicline did me an introductory deal on the Cerb and I've stuck with them. The previous company (Adrian Flux) also did a decent price to start with. Some have found Admiral multicar policy works but as my policies end six months apart it's too much hassle bringing it all together.
As for what you get - drive em both and make your mind up. Take your lad with you to see if there's room in the back for him as well (he'll probably struggle to squeeze in behind the driver's seat).

For Insurance try CAROLE NASH. Gave me a £75 lower quote than my well known Insurer I have been with for 12 years. When I told my regular this, they came up with a matching figure. I can now fill up with an extra tank full for the price saving, but it will not last long.
If more than two in car, it has to be a Cerby. An extra seat belt will need fitted to a Tuscan, Griff etc.
Just joking. The Cerb is the nearest TVR came to having shed like accomodation for two or more occupants. Door opening and getting in/out in a Tesco carpark is almost a no, no. In traffic, it still looks like a Chimp from the front and back.

I thought about a Tuscan when I initially wanted to buy a TVR - but I changed my mind to a Cerbera when I realised that there were just so many time I wouldn't use a Tuscan when I could use a Cerbera: family days out especially.
Kids fit in the back OK; use the Recaro Start childs seat - it's very robust and fits well; fits OK behind the passenger seat when you push it all the way forwards (and with the Cerb having the battery in the top of passenger wing not down in the footwell like some other TVRs - still gives passenger OK legroom).

If you need to get kids in the car, then the cerb back seats would probably be more child friendly than the tuscans boot
I moved from a Tuscan to a Cerbera because I needed back seats for my twin boys. I didn't want to part with my Tuscan but the Cerbera I picked up has been great, despite the fact I have just forked out ££££ on a rebuild.
As has been said already the Tuscan I had (2001) was a difficult car to drive fast,I also felt like it wanted to kill me!!. I believe overtime the handling issues have been improved with bump steer issues, spacers and suspension upgrades but as atandard they are a handfull!!.
The Cerbera by comparison is an easier car to drive fast although I have upgraded to Gaz Gold Pro suspension and replaced all the bushes at the front and ball joints and it made a huge difference. I do prefer the Cerbera but it is a very close call. I miss taking the roof of and enjoying the open air, or taking the back window out and leaving the roof on and winding down the windows but the Cerb interior and looking along that long bonnet just edge it.
