hot in the knob dept!!!

Okay the knob joke's gettin a little thin now but on a serious note i've just collected my tuscan from oxford , drove home at 70 mph oil temp at 79 degrees and water at 80 odd, but the gear knob was roasting! to the point of having 5,4,3,2,1 imprinted backwards on my palm! is this normal? or am i panicking?

normal on my cerb, lots of heat coming from around handbrake as well.

phew (litterally!) forget to mention the handbrake cover, stops you from falling to sleep, right on the soft bit of skin...ouch, but aslong as this is normal it's ok, thanks for reply

try a pair of racing gloves....one on your left hand...and the other over the gear knob!

works for me on the way home from a track day

Don't want to worry you unduly here but my Cerb always had a roasting hot knob until....BANG gearbox failure...now it doesn't get anywhere near as warm with the new 'box in! hmmmm

If it's an early Tuscan, maybe pre-early 2001 then it should have had a heat sink retro fitted. If not, then get if fitted FOC. If this has been fitted already then harden up

The knob will get quite warm, esp when sitting in traffic, but it shouldn't be too hot to touch unless it's been in the sun all day. Something's causing it to transmit more heat than it ought to ...

your TVR dealer should be able to and know how to fit it. I would not have thought longer than 1 hours labour + a few quid for the rubber heatsink. I would push for it FOC if it has not been done.
