Federal 595 RS-R should I?

The T1Rs on my SP12s are looking worn out after 4 years.

I want to fit trackday tyres but the current price of 888's seems very high to me.

So I am thinking about the RS-Rs
Had a look on camskill and considering 225/45/17 on the front and 265/35/18 on the rear.

Thought before I order please.

I haven't heard anything bad about them - I just wish they came in 19 inch format.

Toyo R1Rs are meant to be very good, haven't used them tho, but I suppose the Japanese tyre brands are all a bit pricey at the mo

A set of R1Rs would cost another £100 at least.
Would i be correct in assuming the R1Rs wouldnt be as effective on track as the RSRs?

I've got ad08's now but these are a fair whack cheaper and have only heard good things. Keep us updated.

If i can get them fitted this Saturday I will be driving a 260 mile round trip to York and will also try them out for a couple of test runs on the strip so will report back.

BMTR in birmingham have got these tyres on special offer, check out the website. Loads cheaper tham camskill at the moment, just had some 195/50 15's for £55 - Bargain

They seem to only have the 595 SS not the 596 RS-R.

Ummm so if they only have 6.2mm maybe they don't work out much cheaper than ad08's. This for me is the problem with 888's , they only have 5mm iirc which imo will get eaten pretty quick. They are a VERY good tyre though and dry weather the best i have ever used (on an evo mind you).

Mind you i am thinking of selling mine with 5+mm tread on them as i'm sure they have lost a bit of their stickiness. I cant tell properly as i haven't really used the car but last year they seemed to have loads of grip, now they seem to spin up very easily.

That said its obviously been cold so they haven't had a chance to get heat into them but i am worried that maybe the cold weather has degraded them? (car was garaged).

The RSR's are difficult to find on the websitego:
motorsport, track days, sale offers, Track day tyre sale.

these people are very helpful on the phone as well

i have no connection with them other than bleeding them for advice and buying a set of tyres

Just got some Toyo R1R'S for my t350, haven't fitted yet as waiting on some SP12's to go with them. TVRCC mebers get 12% discount on R1R or 888 on camskill so that helps.

I was going to recomend going for the Kumho V70A's but just costed them in your sizes in excess of £700....

Derek how much did the 18" tyres work out to be? i'm going to need some stickies for mine soon and im running 18's all round, also interested in how they compare to the 888;s
