How much to change a gearbox on a tuscan?

I am looking at getting a cr box and was wondering if this would be wise to have fitted when i have my next service done or is it easy enough for my mate to do? Hes got a ramp and between us have half a brain he is a 4* mechanic by haynes manuel standards

What sort of labour to change a box from a specialist? Or better to diy?

I guess it also gives me a chance to see the clutch because i am going on a euro trip and really the clutch is the only uncertain to me right now.

I am no expert but believe that dropping the box is fairly straightforward. Are you changing the diff at the same time? I have been thinking of getting the CR box and 3.73 diff.

I've got a 3.73 in there now which is a bonus so that will be staying. I have read the 3.91 is not suited to the cr box.

Shame really as when i bought the car i was told it had the cr box. Within about 5 miles it became apparant it wasn't

good time to check or change clutch release, or even clutch

I had my gearbox fixed as I lost 5th Gear. It meant removing-fixing-replacing and was charged about £700. This was about 5 years ago.
