Both TVRs egged!

I went to my car this morning to go to work and found both my TVR and my son's TVR had been comprehensively egged. I rang the police straight away, Nick took photos, and then we washed it all off before it did any damage to the paintwork. Will the police actually do anything? As some of you know, we've got a few horse riders round here who've taken offence to our vehicles.

I myself have done nothing to them. I've been abused by one of the riders for driving a loud car before though. My son was recently convicted of a Section 4A Public Order Offence involving 3 horse riders, who said he roared up to them at '100mph', stopped, abused them, then did a '1 minute' wheel spin before driving off, which as anyone with any common sense will realise is not possible when you do the maths and calculate the stopping distances involved (which I have, as I'm a physicist). What have you done? Aftermarket exhausts? Loud driving?
Is this just jealousy ??? I always admired super cars when I was a kid, the thought of doing that kinda thing never entered my head - just a desire and want to own one myself.

Police won't be bothered to be honest. Go and egg their horses perhaps, if you want to start WW3.
I'm not a fan of the horsey set, forgive the unjustified prejudice.
They appear to me to be imbued with snobbery and they project an attitude of owning the road. Thinking about it, so do cyclists, if you subsitute "self-righteousness" in place of "snobbery".
I always approach and coast past horses with extreme caution (don't want them bolting at risk of damaging my car !) and to date haven't had any trouble, but never say never.
Damn shame what's happened to your cars and to your son previously. Commiserations.
ETA - cyclists on the other hand, I like to offend whenever possible, especially those that ride 2/3 abreast anyway, they know damn well there's a car behind they're obstructing

Do you live in an area where teenagers pass by in Corsa's etc? They go out with eggs to just go and 'have a laugh' and throw at people etc. So they may have just been passing and decided to egg the cars?

not quite the same thing but whenever I catch up with Griefs in convoy it's like being behind a hay transporter, bits of chest wig hair all over my car, between my teeth etc. Really unpleasant. And it means i have to wash the car straight away in case any of the hair care product combinations are corrosive on my paintwork

I would agree with you, had it not been for the fact that on the day of the incident, Nick came straight in and explained what had happened to him. The incident happened 2 minutes from our house, so I find it unlikely that he'd managed to formulate a full series of events (from which he didn't waver once) in that time (whereas the horsey type's evidence did waver, they couldn't even agree on where the incident happened, or even on who spoke first). Then there's the fact that I calculated the maximum speeds etc that Nick's TVR could have reached and then stopped again in the distances involved, which yet again proved the horsey types to be grossly exaggerating the series of events, and the fact Nick had evidence showing no tyre marks on the road after his supposed '1 minute burnout'. As to your point about it being a group of 'chavs' in corsas; unlikely. Nothing like this has ever happened to us before, and it seems a very strange coincidence that two days after the court case, both our cars are covered in eggs?

They came round and took my CCTV footage and printed photos off and then went around the schools. After a few days they phoned me to say they've got him. (there's more but will keep that private).
I was amazed how much trouble they went to. I suppose it depends which police force and the police person that is avalible, the one I got was a car enthusiast.
My advice would be always phone them to get any chance of help, if they don't know, they can't do anything.

Couldn't be taking my case any more seriously - astounded and delighted at the depth of the investigation, travelling all over the country to take witness statements etc. Mind you, the value of the alleged crime/s totals over £10k which may be the difference
Sorry but this does read like: "My son scared some people on horses, then got into an argument with them and then revved the car up as he wheel span away". I cant condone their actions if they did indeed 'egg' your cars but to be honest I am sure they are very angry with you. But why do this before the court case (which on assumes has some foundation)!?

I've found this. We have a couple of stables near us and the insist on riding two abreast along busy roads, even riding through residential streets.
Last time I spotted them about 100 yards ahead coming in my direction and stopped idling so they could pass safely. Didn't stop one foul mouthed rider informing me I shouldn't be using the car as a racetrack, how my car was too noisy to be allowed on the road etc. All from a woman in her 40's. I was very surprised, especially as I have one of the quietest Cerbera's going.
After all that, I did however ask if she was going to clean up the mess her horse was leaving

Ultimately there is always going to be some issues between cars and horses. I dont side with horse owners nor with the owners of noisey cars. I can only try and ensure that I behave appropriately and try to not aggrevate horse riders nor scare their horses - ie show some empathy and respect. I am a cyclist and EVERY time I ride (always alone) I am almost clipped by car drivers who drive too close - so I can understand the anger.
Re the specifics of this case - the posts above suggest that there is some justification, in this instance, to the horse riders anger. There is no evidence that they 'egged' the cars and it seems just as likely that it was carried out by pesky kids.
