But what's it worth after you've spent all that money on it?
It's a good point. If resale value is your measurement you're never going to convince your accountant it was a good value project JD.
However.
What else are you going to buy with £30-£40k that'll match it.
This perhaps?

I hate ricers but you got to respect the GTR.
Shame the roof don't come off

So how about something like this for £20k (ish):
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3643817.htm
Plus one of these:
http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STISUPR07&am...
Should give you 500hp wind in the hair motoring for under £30k all in.
And you get a few things missing from a Chim like:
Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Automatic lighting system, Automatic rain sensing wipers, BOSE audio system, Brake Assist, Climate control air conditioning, Cruise control, Drive computer, Driver's and passengers airbag, Electric adjust driver's seat, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Front fog lamps, Front side airbags, Headlamp levelling, Headlamp washers, ect ect ect.....
Settle down with some popcorn and enjoy the movie fellow Tivers.

Would not take any of that Jap plastic over my LS Griff or 350c! Driving iether of my car's is an epic event, an assault on the senses! And as for all the electric driver aids thats what my daily drivers all about. Lost count of what i've spent now, but the one thing you can't buy and was there from the start in both my TVR's is soul!If resale value is your measurement you're never going to convince your accountant it was a good value project JD.

yep - wouldnt want the 370, or even a GTR tbh
got to be cabrio, sound like a hotrod and need a firm hand, although I could be persuaded (again) by the Porsche flat 6 snarl-to-yowl sound effects.
It would have to be an unmolested 80's 911 Turbo Cab for me at £30k, Will appreciate too. Or a Tam/T350T with Power upgrades. Which might not appreciate. Not like the pork anyway.
ETA - the fact it's worth less than it owes me IS a good point, but that will only hurt IF i sell it.
At approaching 500bhp/tonne what could I possibly change it for (this side of £250k)?
Best not write it off though....

Like I said earlier, I HATE RICERS!
Just stirring it up a bit, like I do sometimes

Jammy, you say yours will stand you at £35k ish. Is that not about the same as what they cost new. (many years ago). Yours now far exceeds any Chim that came out of the factory. yes you have had a costly set back but all in all you are going to have one hell of a car; for the same price that somebody once paid for it new years ago.
So looking at it from that angle, things aint too bad.

You never get money you spend modding cars back again
if you cant live with that then don't do it
it's not a pop just experience as many on here have probably found out over the years
we do it cos we enjoy it
I like the Griff ..... but 40k no f
king way
even if it was as new and it wont be

Ultima gtr or race car replica super coupe.. but their a real match for any super car but at a "budget" price. I went for a Tuscan as I simply don't have time to do a build from scratch. got to be cabrio, sound like a hotrod and need a firm hand, although I could be persuaded (again) by the Porsche flat 6 snarl-to-yowl sound effects.

Got to be cabrio and streetable (not just road legal) without a complimentary "knob end" stamp on the forehead. Not negotiable.http://www.race-car-replicas.com/rcrp.html
I would feel like a tool getting out of that in Tescos car park, seriously

FFG
lol - miaow ! (FFG shoots, scores etc.)
FFG
ETA - though seriously, we all know that griffs/chims as standard did not brake, handle or steer very well. Maybe the factory set up a handful properly - by accident

Blimey, this thread got me thinking about my Chim 450
Purchase price Jan 2006. £16,000
Nitrons £1,000
Supercharger, brakes etc. £7,500
Engine Rebuild. £6,500
Then there's 6 years servicing, tyres, clutch, new hood, hid lights. It adds up, to a fair few quid.
Still to do:
Dash, new ECU/re-map
Outriggers probably in the next couple of years
Do I regret it? Having covered 40k+ miles. Absolutely not, and I'm falling in love with it all over again
