Back home in the UK for a week for a funeral; get the P&J out of the garage for a trip to London to see some mates for a curry; travelling West (A40) to East (Docklands).
Check route and time to avoid Congestion Charge - then this furiousfurious

http://trafficimages.camden.gov.uk/images/trafficf...

18:43 in the evening and I cut into a bus lane by 10 yards too early for a left hand turn; not a London bus in sight; not done deliberately, more out of ignorance. Caught on a manually operated camera. Wrong place at the wrong time. Location - just down from Russell Sq towards Holborn Tube Station (Southampton Row).

£130 or £65 if you pay within 14 days. Bound to lose appeal so got me by the balls.
No doubt some illegal Camden resident will benefit from my misfortune.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!

I hate junctions like that furious

Turning left is just a nightmare the buses and taxis don't like you moving across.

Luckily most the time I'm in a van so can push through but it still sucks.

Like you say 10ft later and you would have been ok stupid thing is you were turning left so its not as if you were jumping the que.

(My view) If you are allowed to turn let, then you're allowed to use the lane where the camera showed you, as the lane markers are broken lines. Otherwise it is impossible to turn left and obey the lane markings.

Its just so annoying and they rely on people not being botherd to appeal. I feel for you.

Maybe something here can help http://www.ticketfighter.co.uk/bus.htm

I got done on TiTT7 last October, I pulled over to wait for another Cerb to catch up after getting stuck at a set of lights, hazards on, didn't even get out of the car, and ZAP! Busted for illegal parking! Grrrr!

That is just Bas***d luck ! They probably got the Merc behind you twice ,for stopping in the yellow box.I bet if you go down that road again and keep within the law ,the camera will be facing a different direction ! I got nicked in Grays Inn Road on a Sunday morning at 6.30 by a similar camera for having my back wheels 3 inches in a bus stop, that was 3 months ago and I have never seen the camera pointing in that direction since.furious

PM me. I can't view the image but I know exactly where you have been done.

I commuted for years through that junction. Sent several pictures and never had to pay wink

It's a flawed junction that actually forces you into the bus lane if you are going left.

Won't make you feel any better, but I received two such penalty notices in Italy. One in Florance the other in Pisa.

One arrived about 9 months after the 'offence', the other almost 2 years! Must have been employing someone to go through lots of traffic video footage to prop up the economy as I wasn't actually aware of either!

Oh, I did appeal the first, they sent me a picture and added 50% to the fine!

You can see how crazy the operator gets when you pull the move - the camera is shaking like he's tossing himself off with excitement.
Don't really want to think about that.
The smell in that control room must be pretty grim if they are all at it !
Don't think he knew what the car was; hence the big zoom in on the badge.

Wow... I've been back in NZ for some years now and didn't realise this was what speed cameras and congestion zone policing had evolved into over there...

Somehow the idea of a sneak in a control room sniping victims in their own community (admittedly a large one, but still...) like they're playing a video game is deeply disturbing. Are they on commission?

So just imagine what it's like living here everyday! yikes
I've been in the wandsworth camera room and yes it did stink although the camera operator seemed more interested in what was in peoples windows than traffic offences! and he was a politeman!!!

Nope, yellow, but in a 'special control zone' or something.
