Before I fit some split rims I want to give them a good polish. I was thinking a tube of Autosol followed by a sealant like this one:

Or is the Autosol going to be too abrasive? Would it be cheaper and easier to just use some of this instead:
Autoglym Metal Polish
Finally, getting around all those bolt heads is going to be a pain (I know I could split them but I don't want to go down that route until I need a professional refurb as they are not too bad). I was thinking some sort of drill mounted polishing device might do the trick, does anyone know of any or can recommend any that will help polish up around the bolt heads?

I've had the same dilemma for my OZ splits.
I bought some Meguiars All Metal Polish, that was recommended by Simon at the Growl (see this thread).
I haven't had the wheels back from the refurbs long, and with all the rain, only managed a light polish so far - seems to work well though (lint free microfibre cloth a must).
I have looked to get a drill bit though, to make it easier to polish up the bolts...I have picked up the Policraft Alloy, Brass & Copper Polishing Kit, but have not been able to try it yet with all the wet weather (my garage is too narrow to get to wheels!). I think when polished I will just stick some wax on them, I have read before Zymol works well, and have some of that left, so will try that.

I will be trying out a few cabbage and goblet mops from here:

Cheaper than a whole kit and I only want to do the rims and around the bolts, 3 mops for £6.66.
Also going to try the Autosol Aluminium Polish as it doesn't recommend the plain Autosol for mirror finish alloys and the Autosol finishing wax (might as well try it - it's half the price of other metal waxes I have been looking at).

GTechniq C5 wheel sealant. Blooming expensive but hoping for some good results!
Oh, and don't mix up using metal polish, and just getting them clean. If you're happy with the current finish on the wheels then use some clay bar (even Halfords now sells kits) and some decent degreaser (I use SurfexHD) and just get them sparkling. Then seal with some wax or dedicated wheel sealant and happy days
