I have EBC Green stuff fitted on my Griff500 and wanted to know how much wear these get on track days.

How long can I expect them to last (ie, how many trackdays?).

On this set of pads I have just done Goodwood and have Silverstone booked.

Thanks.

Honestly depends on how hard you drive. Good brakes inspire the confidence to brake later - as confidence builds brake wear increases. When I first tracked my T350, I thought the brakes were awsome. Three sets of pads and a set of front discs later - they are being upgraded....

I melted the greenstuff pads on my golf after a short blat across Milton Keynes. Horrible sticky mess on the disks. Ended up changing pads to pagid, and disks to zimmerman cross drilled. They may have changed the material since then though (ca. 5 yr ago). The guy at the motorfactors advised me they were not for that kind of use and I should have got red / yellow (can't remember).

Green works fine, even given them some serious stick on an airfield and they held up reasonably well (although I did consider an upgrade until I learnt how to use the brakes properly!).

I just dont know how long they are gonna last. Dont want to run out of brakes halfway through the day!

I used greenstuff pads for a couple of years and found the pad wear rate is very low. Typically with other brands a set of pads would last for two or three track days as long as I didn't overheat them, but Greenstuff last several times longer. However, the disc wear rate is quite high. With conventional pads the discs would outlast four or five sets of pads but with greenstuff I'd need to change the discs every time I changed the pads.

You should monitor the brake and tyre wear throughout the day (as well as tyre pressure and fluid levels) so you shouldn't find yourself unexpectedly running out of brakes, and I would take a spare set of pads with you anyway just in case.

I checked everything after each session but must admit to forgetting to check brake wear.

I guess with Silverstone TVR now open it should be handy to get any parts quick.

I’ve got Green stuff pads all round, matched with their ‘spotted’ discs. I’ve done 1 track day at Donnington and 1 day at Silverstone, with approx 4k road miles. Although the discs are cracked (small cracks coming from the counter sunk holes), the pads have still got about 25% left on them. I find the discs have cracked (therefore really need replacing) quicker than the pads have worn out. I’ll replace them this summer, not bad though, one set of discs per set of pads….!!!

Compare this to a day at Donnington once, where I had the rear pads (standard) fitted on the Thursday (TVR main dealer), did the track day on the Sunday, and there were pretty much worn out by the end of the day, only a couple of mm left on them, this was on standard discs).

what are the standard fit pads then? Where my car has been serviced for the last few years they fit EBC greenstuff.
