My TVR is falsifie, fake VIN number - Need help
Discussion
Hello,
I'm Frederic from france and I have a 2005 TVR T350 since january
Well...I should say 2002 because all the bodywork, inside and chassis is from 2002
Numbers on the chassis had been deleted
Number on the constructor plate shows a 2004 build but it can't be.
Engine number is not the one engraved on the constructor's plate ( this point is not really important as it only means it’s not the original engine)
Pictures here : https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/tM-L9k8qv7vi...
So I want to cancel the transaction from the seller but he wants the car to be inspected by the insurance (with an automobile expert).
The expert told me it would be an important point to have a document from TVR giving informations on the serial number who appears on the constructor’s plate.
Then, from this paper we could see clearly :
What kind of chassis was used ?
What colour was the car ?
What year it was build ?
Then if all of of this don't coincide with my car it would be a first proof.
So my question is, can I collect such a document from TVR motors in Austria (http://www.tvrmotors.eu) ?
Do they have a register ?
Or is it TVR power or Blackpool Automotive
Another question is how can I find the real serial number of my T350 (is it somewhere else ?)
Marc Minne from belgium (used to be an official TVR dealer) says we can find the 4 last numbers of the serial in several places.
On my T350, on those places nothing match with nothing !
Thanks for your precious help.
Frederic

I've known Marc Minnie for 15+ years and he knows everything about TVRs there is to know, so is probably your best source of help.
The chassis number suggests the car was built in 2004 in Blackpool, the engine a 3.6 completed about week 27 (June ish?) and the colour is Midas Yellow?
Did you buy it prviately or from a dealer?

TVR did a lot of chassis number changes when it suited them if money was going to come in sooner with another order.I'm Frederic from france and I have a 2005 TVR T350 since january

You will find a small engraved plate on your bonnet and doors - door cards removed and sprayed in black paint under the boot carpet and other places.
I have some paint lists and some computer records, so the last 4 digits of your chassis no. might help and the numbers you have found on your car.
Marc Minne is a top bloke and I hope to be seeing him tomorrow when he picks a car up from us.
Malcolm
I have contacted Richard Sails, they don't have my T350 in their records...
Malcom, In the picasa gallery, I added 2 pictures :
- Engraved plate on my bonnet
- Inside door's panel with 4 numbers marked
It shows respectively 1636 and 1393
Another point : I have seen the post "Alternative paint code list" and we can see TVR 095 = Orion Yellow / Halcyon Midas
TVR 095 is the body code on my plate but my T350 is obviously dark blue...
I need to proove this with an official document FROM TVR recording all the paint code so if anyone has it...
Again Another point :
So I understand it means 2002 week 50 ?????
Once again THANKS to all the contributors for your help.

This deduction comes from what appears on the constructor's plate, but the number engraved directly on the engine is 0250P6363105So I understand it means 2002 week 50 ?????

I'm sorry to hear what's going on with your car Fred, can't help you on this one. Crossing my fingers for you.
The original car was yellow and from 2002 but the color was changed and the numbers too in order to sell it at a higher price I guess or to a hide a cat D. Is that right ?

I won't keep the car, I am cancelling the transaction
It's too much trouble on it and the value of the car is down now I think.
Darren has send me the specification sheets of the 1192 and the 1636 and all is clear now
1636 is the real number and it's from 2002
Is the original advert still online for car? It's too much trouble on it and the value of the car is down now I think.

If it is , or on their website, maybe grab a screen dump to help with your argument.
I still have the description of the ad on internet but anyway I have everything I need, I have a bill from the seller with all the details...
It won't be that hard to cancel the transaction, facts are here and they are obvious !
2 experts (one from my insurance company and one from the seller's insurance company ) will look at the car the 30t of may.

Its been horrible to read this Frederic and I truly hope the outcome on the 30th May is good for you.
I don't hold it against you that your police are swines, and persecute us poor Brits every time we come to your country for the annual 24 Heures Du Mans !
I honestly do wish you the best of luck with this
