Corners

I am taking the Chimaera to Mallory Park this weekend to prove it can also go round corners.

Normal service will be resumed on Sunday at the pod

The top hairpin and the chicane will certainly test you, but the long right hander (Gerards?) around the lake will be amazing - especially trying to get the power down for the back straight.

Its a lovely circuit for the spectator but I've never driven it.
Whats the event?

Do a "Knight Rider" instead by pressing one of your magic gas buttons and jump over corners ?

It would seem a shame not to utilise the big red button at some point.

tyre pressure? I am running fresh 17 and 18 RSRs
Shock settings? Nitrons with 3-ways on the rear.

Not sure on the baffled sump Barrie but i will make sure its near to full.

I drove my old Chimp there back in 98/99 time. It was a very rainy day. I hated it (which has more to do with my ability)! I doubt you will get much chance to press the button as the straights arent very long or very straight.

Derek, I would have liked to do this but I didn't pay enough attention to your calender AND YOU DIDN'T REMIND ME!

That said, I'm doing my well shagged rear diff bush on Saturday.

Good luck with them thar bends and don't forget to straighten the steering wheel at the start of the straight bits!

Set your dampers reasobnably firm but not rock hard, a bit softer at the rear.

Overfill your sump by 5mm or so, does wonders for surge.

Tyres at standard 22/24 and if you really are on a mission and they get suppa hot, (doubt it) reduce a tad so they show about 26ish when hot, a bit trial and error

Roof on for max speed, off for max cool!

Can you use gas on the track?

Derek, I tend to stiffen up the front and back near side dampers by one click just to "prop" it up a bit through Gerrards. Works for me.

If i cant use gas on the track then i will remove the bottle from the rear shelf

Its pretty much a right hand oval isnt it?

Maby i will swap the wheels around. 265/35/18s on the nearside and 215/40/17s on the offside

There is actually surprisingly more than just an oval, and plenty to catch you our. It was resurfaced last year and is now very smooth.

Its also very fast. Im only pulling 10mph less at the end of stebbe straight than at the end of the straight at Snett !!! this is because the exit from gerrards is very fast 110-120 in the tuscan.

Cheers guys, i will have fun and try to take it easy as i need the car sound for the pod the next day.

I might even get some in car footage.
I know some places dont like the windscreen sucker mounts so i can fettle the camera to the roll bar if i have to.

Watch out for ducks. There were a few meetings at 120 mph between ducks and TVRs when I was there.

Just got back from Pompey. Ive covered about 500 road miles on them upto now. Impressed but Mallory and the pod will tell us much more.

Any problems with noise limits?

Haven't had a chance to get mine on track yet, but I very much doubt it'll pass the static test for any of my local tracks without cans.

What are your first impressions of the RSR's?
Thinking of a set but not sure which sizes to go for and also reports that when they get warm/hot they start to shred up. Interested to hear your views if your using them on the track day.
