Was brilliant. Got excited when I spotted Tvr in the line up, then got worried as looked grim for the first few seconds, then all came good and didn't know what I was worried about.

It was quick in a straight line, no doubt about that but the vette was EVO fast on the circuit and it weighs some 3000 odd lbs. I'm very impressed with the vette. Pity it's cheap and nasty inside though. The leaf springs are carbon fibre jobbies but they didn't mention that. Don't know if the Le Mans race cars use them.

The T350 was quicker round the track than the Evo though

It was a particularly fine moment watching the TVR hunker down and fire itself into the distance. Not sure there was a Ferrari on the line up though, 'vette, 911, TVR and a NSX if I remember correctly. Wonder how many clutches have been fried on that particular TVR?

The EVO FQ330 somethingorother was quicker though. Std EVO/Scoobie/M3 were a few seconds adrift.

Vette posted a good time, looked more than a little scrappy though. Dare I say, how you'd expect a TVR to look on the limit on a track a few years ago?

Have they tested the M3 CSL BTW? (in the damp, to fairly reflect typical road conditions )

Except if you take a look at the top gear website it has the corvette listed 11th ,faster than the 350

I guess Clarkson just couldn’t bring himself to allow it to be placed properly.

As for the leaf spring, how many cars are carbon composite sprung with electromagnetic real time damping compared to a twisty bit of metal.

At first glance I dont like the look of the 'vette but I have always loved them so it will no doubt grow on me.

The fact its shorter and more nimble makes it very appealing. Where can I go to test one?

Leaf springs does seem a bit odd but Im sure they wouldnt put them on it if they were crap.
Have 'vettes always had leaf springs?

yep, and for the record:-

Three suspension choices allow drivers to choose the setup that best suits their style of driving. Each of the choices (Corvette Standard, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and Z51 Performance Package) provides outstanding handling, but each also offers drivers the ability to tailor the car’s handling traits to specific preferences.

The Standard suspension is tuned for a balance of ride comfort and precise handling. The optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension adds to the Standard suspension magneto-rheological dampers that are able to detect road surfaces and adjust the damping rates to those surfaces almost instantly for optimal ride and body control.

The optional Z51 Performance Package is a competition-ready system for the true performance enthusiast. It offers more aggressive dampers and springs, larger stabilizer bars, Goodyear Supercar tires with an asymmetrical tread pattern, and larger, cross-drilled brake rotors for outstanding handling performance that is still comfortable for daily driving. Beyond the suspension bits, the Z51 is a total system that takes the “regular” C6 to near-exotic levels of performance. It features gear ratios borrowed from the previous Corvette Z06 for maximum acceleration performance, and includes coolers added for the transmission and power steering systems for aggressive, track-oriented use. The result is a car that very nearly equals the Z06 in track performance – representing a tremendous value.
