TVR Sagaris in Britcar - Oulton Park 23 June

As per the title, we are out again in the British Endurance Championship on 23 June at Oulton Park in a three hour race. We have an 'all ex-Tuscan Challenge' driver line up with me, Rod Barrett and Jay Shepherd. Jay was a frontrunner in the Tuscans, a regular race winner and finished 2nd in the championship in 2002.
We'll be in garage 24 and as ever it would be great to see any TVR owners there - do drop in and say hello!

Unfortunately we had a transmission failure on the very first lap of the race, having qualified in 8th. All ok in qually and no warning of any kind that there was a problem. Still diagnosing exactly what the problem is.
Well done to the other two TVRs of Steve Glynn and Tim Hood for both finishing the race.

It was good to see you on Saturday Andy, really felt for you as you didn't re-appear after going round the lake section of the track. You must have been gutted.
We stayed for a while after that and then made tracks back home.
When are you planning to be out next?
Hope that it isn't to big a job, once you get to the bottom of the problem.

Thanks Nigel. It was hugely disappointing - particularly as we have arguably the best gearbox available. Still, these things happen....
There is an outside chance we will be out in the 2hr Britcar race at Brands, depending on what parts we need, otherwise the 3 hr at Snetterton in August.

Yes, I echo the last comment, well done to Steve and Tim. I must admit that I was a little disappointed by the failure but in all honesty, I was even sadder for the effect it had on Andy, he had worked long and hard to get the car ready and we all had high hopes for a finish, but hey, that's motorsport !!!, we shall repair and return hopefully for Brands GP. Quite a number of teams suffered problems but these and our own, pale into insignificance compared with the horrible accident that happened in qualifying. The driver suffered some very serious injuries and has broken several vertebrae and has probably broken his neck, luckily his spinal column was saved but I suspect that his racing days are well and truly over. We all wish him a speedy recovery and our thoughts must be with his family at this distressing time.Well done to the other two TVRs of Steve Glynn and Tim Hood for both finishing the race.
Compared to the above, we had a great weekend.
As Rod says, our troubles were nothing compared to others and we wish the SEAT driver a speedy recovery. He is now home recuperating, which is excellent news.
Our problem was the quill or input shaft into the gearbox. It sheared off just behind the clutch. The box itself appears to be fine, have not yet removed the clutch and the mangled end of the shaft embedded in it, but suspect it and the release bearing are toast. Looks to be a freak failure. Not great, but I am delighted it isn't the box itself.

That's a relief in cost terms as the box must be circa £20k, I guess it's now down to availability of spare parts if we are to get out for Brands GP.
