Ultimate TVR Shootout 2012 RWYB - Pictures & Vidoes
Discussion
Here are a few pics and videos from Ultimate TVR Shootout 2012 RWYB at Santa Pod Raceway. Thank you very much for organising Derek and good luck with your engine rebuild. More owners should come along to these RYWB days, it really is a great day out and very cheap at £25 for unlimited runs.

Wow, I want a turbo!
Great pics and video thanks.
What times did you get?
Neal's Turbo Chim is a bit special.... very fast and I believe it was recently measures at just over 400BHP at the wheels.Great pics and video thanks.
What times did you get?
I only managed a 13.8

I need to learn to be less ham fisted as I was spinning through 1st and 2nd. Here is the stats for my best run:

Nice one Mattew. What happened to the first Chimp turbo?
I am a newbie to the Pod. Do you have your best quarter mile time + or - 12.8 secs. Also a 0-60 time + or - 4.2 secs. Autocar figures 2003. However, I believe you had a wet track. Thanks.

What was issue with the Chim? Smoke etc?
The Chim in the first run belongs to Derek Beck (dbv8 on here) he runs a TVR Chimaera 450 with nitrous which frequently runs low 11s. Unfortunately the car had a Nitrous backfire and the engine let go. haircutmike said:
Judging by those figures, it seems the engine may not be at it's best.
60 ft is not too shabby but terminal speed is down.
3 of us have 4.6's and are down to 12.4/5s, mind you they are chims
.
The terminal speed does seem a bit low for a 500. I had it dyno'd at the Growl this year and it managed 277BHP with almost 330ft lb which is not bad for a standard 500. 60 ft is not too shabby but terminal speed is down.

What terminal speed are you getting on you 4.6 and what BHP and torque are you getting for comparison?

I'm glad you asked
!
Very similar to Alex,
12.6 from memory for my 4.6 before my latest mods.
12.5 from my old 5.0.
Your figures are good for a standard 500, just right!
Now go and toon it for a bit more action to keep up with the chims
.
I have done all of the cheapish bits like smoothbore pipes, carbon trumpets, Magnecors etc. Gonna look at Bosch injectors, Bosch AFM, bigger plenum and mapping next but realistically they will not give a major increase in power. I think I would need to be looking at an engine rebuild to get near your kind of figures.

.On the plus side I was the fastest Griff at Pod that day.

What made you decide to go from a 5.0 to a 4.6?
