TVR on a Ferry - Alarm motion sensor? Ramps?

Do Chimaera's have a motion sensor on the standard Meta alarm?

If you park on a ferry, does the motion in transit set off the alarm? I don't want a flat battery :S

Also, any experiences of getting a TVR on/off a ferry? Are the entry ramps ok to drive on without bottoming out?

I don't know about your alarm (turn it off), but unless your Chim has lower than standard suspension, it should be OK. Always tell the ferry company / check-in / loader that you have limited ground clearance and they will try to accommodate you.

Taken mine on the ferry to France many times. I don't lock it as, as you say the alarm would be going non stop.

You should be ok, you can approch the ramps at a bit of an angle,i usually leave the car unlocked so dont know about the alarm. have a good time where ever your going.

To my knowledge there's no motion sensor as such, just a microwave sensor for the interior.

Drive carefully and slowly onto the ferry, approach the ramp at an angle, lock the car and go get a beer in the bar.

Don't leave the car with the roof off when it's on the ferry as there are often nasty drips from above that could stain your interior, the alarm is also less likely to go off if you have the roof on.

I've never had a problem with my alarm going off on a ferry, I just lock up & walk away.

Adopt the same angled approach to the ramp coming off and you'll be fine.

I bought my Chim to drag the wife & I down to the South of France every year, no issues so far & trip number 4 coming up next week.

These cars are perfect for continental grand touring, but when you arrive you will also find you have a fantastic sports car to enjoy some spirited driving on the most amazing roads, the like of which you'll never find in England.

I always ask to go in with the lorries as the ramp is usually flatter

A few observations from travelling with Brittany last month for the L.M Classic.

The loaders would direct all the low cars to approach at an angle and place them on the car deck(s) clear of the lugs for the hold-down turnbuckles.

Brittany specifically announce to put car in gear, apply hand brake and DO NOT activate alarm. The car deck is locked throughout the passage anyway. Probably had too many flat batteries when the time came to unload!!

Only problem I ever had getting a TVR on a ferry was the S - which has the exhaust slung below the chassis rails by a long way. Griff and Chim are fine.

Apart from a distinct lack of traction on the slippery on-ramp in the rain my somewhat-lowered Chim was fine on the ferry to Spain. I wasn't so good when I woke up in stormy seas wondering if I'd remembered to put the handbrake on, though...

My lower than standard Chim was fine getting on/off the ferry to France. No alarm problems either.

The fuel pump that went when I got down to Cannes was more of an issue. That was after I'd spent a fortune getting the engine rebuilt. Such is the fun with TVRs though
