Is it a crime to paint a TVR grey?

Hi Guys,

just looking for some feedback from the wider TVR community.

As some from the T car forums will know- I've got what is the worlds first T350 Spider in build at the moment. Will look like this when done:




and I'm thinking about painting it this colour dark silver with impressive brilliance an flake:




This grey will do the following:

• Go well with the current blue/grey interior
• Go well with a future retrim in colours that aren't blue! Either Tan or Red
• Hide scratches and swirl marks like no other colour can
• Show off the shape and curves in the car with a metallic glow

BUT my only worry is that grey is not an exciting enough colour for a TVR. but then it is a T350, which is not as lairy as some others in the family.

It's crazy, when you buy a new car there are 6 or maybe 10 colour choices, easy to decide. When you have an unlimited pallet... god it's hard!

What do you all think?

I think the blue above really suits it.

However, in answer to your question, why not? The car will look stunning in whatever colour you choose.

Sometimes, understated is the route to pure cool.

Plenty of grey Tamoras about - indeed I know of two.

Grigio Titainium might be worth a look.

Nothing funny about the front - it will have a back to match aswell
Spectraflair Silver is the grey/silver you should be looking at me thinks

Does it bother you what others think about the colour?

Mine was iced titanium - looked very nice. Also the other TVRs I looked at the same were variations of grey, so should be fine. It goes well on the car. You just need to check it goes well with the interior and alloys as well.

But if you like it, go for it.

I think they look very good in 'subtle' colours.

Same colors are more dull or boring then others, grey is among them but you could def get a none-boring grey color, try a slightly diff shade or use a pearl or matte or whatever to make it more "special"

I'm not necessarily bothered by what some others may think, but I am looking for input and inspiration from people better versed in the TVR world.

I'm after a grey/silver metallic that will sparkle and dance in the sunlight, but I'm having doubts because there are so many grey euroboxes on the road, and this is a TVR!

I was thinking RB blue or similar like the photoshop, but, it's been done already, and I don't want to spend all my time trying to avoid the standard medium to dark colour swirl marks like this:

My Chimaera is an aston martin dark metallic grey and i think it looks ace, go for it..

My Chim is Highland Pearl, Grey on a dull day, but when the sun is out its got blue, red, green, pink and other colours sparkling in it. It's what sold me on the car, understated, not in your face, and it lets the shape of the car speak for itself...

My Tuscan was spectraflair grey which I really liked, it was very understated but smart when the sun wasn't shining but came alive when it did. I don't know how it would work on the shape of your car but really suited the curves of the Tusc. Pics below.

My Chim is Prestige Grey with a blue and grey interior - I like it

The T440 that was recently for sale at Str8six was painted Grigio Titanium as per the original colour but they added a bit of Spectraflair Silver to lift it and it looks awesome in the sun.
