Are some TVRCC members potential Victor Meldrews?

Lately on here there has been an increase in the downside/negative side of TVR ownership as in the Power and Passion event. Some people dont seem to realise the vast amount of time and energy that goes to organising events for no reward."Oh its too expensive, not worth the money" How do you know,you havent been!! The same goes for regional events. Our RO NCS 
works every bloody day to ensure our region has some event or other to go to, and what thanks does he get ??
The engines are crap, the factory dont care, its raining again etc etc. Fer Chrissakes people stop moaning and start appreciating how great this club can be, and better still, contribute.

I want to complain to NCS as he promised that as well as the Lancaster Bomber and Spitfire flypast he organised there would be a Concorde one.
Well, shortly after that he buggered off and left me sat in the pub garden looking up at the skies waiting for concorde for 4 hours.
I will be sending you the bill for
- All the drinks and food I had to eat whilst waiting
- My doctors who are still trying to straighten my neck.
- The massage palour that are trying the same (but they just haven't got to my neck yet)*
- The 36 exposure film I have had developed of nothing but clouds
Call yourself an RO? Its a bloody disgrace.
PS: Look forward to seeing you at Thruxton. I'll have a few cold beers ready

No complaints just can't afford it, i wish i could go
Speed 6 if only you knew how close i came to having a Tuscan parked next to the V8. But i cant make the sums add up
As for RO's i think most people appreciate what they do

Can't we just accept that people buy TVRs for different reasons? Some like the club atmosphere and all that goes with it, some like it a little bit, and some don't. Others get their kicks outside of the 'Club'. Each to their own - we don't have to conform. I personally like the club atmosphere (in moderation) and appreciate the effort ROs put in, but at times I do find the whole TVR Club all in it together through thivk and thin thing a tad overwhelming and at times over done. After all, we don't need such things to enjoy our cars. If people don't want to take part all the time, and give their reasons why on PH (which is a public forum afterall!) then so be it.

Exactly, no arguement. But my comments weren't aimed at those with your views. More towards those who do sometimes turn out or dont as the case may be but still feel they are qualified to criticise the efforts of others, often without experiencing the event. Believe me, if I shell out for something, and its rubbish I will say so, but I won't mallign it without being able to qualify it by personal experience.

Fair enough i see you point Lady Topaz. I just guess you will always get those sort of views on a public forum
I take it that I'm a target, seeing as I was the first to openly "question" what we got for our money at P&P.
I appreciate what John my RO does for the members in his region. I know how much effort goes into putting on events, I've done it myself, got the T-shirt and the commemorative pin.
I have not, and will not, denigrate the efforts that people put in on behalf of the members. But it must be appreciated that one can put ones point of view forward.
As it happens, I booked time off as soon as I knew when P&P was taking place. When I was presented with the booking form, I was not impressed with what was on offer for my money. I'm still not sold on the idea, as it seems surrounded in a bit here, a bit there, but not a lot for the fee.
As for LA's post regarding TVR, I agree with him that the buy out by Mr. Nic is potentially the best scenario for TVR, and I have (as with P&P), already said so.
I've got broad shoulders, and I don't need an asbestos coat. I like my TVR, a lot, but if it doesn't involve the TVRCC, so be it. I've been to the Wedge Fest, "S" Club and Growl, and enjoyed them all.
People make the events, cars are just a commonality for us. To everybody I'm met, Hi!, to those I've yet to meet, See you around; now lets all lighten up and who's getting the beers in?

A target? no, not from me. I reckon your points were put far more eloquently, sp than mine. My original comments were general across the board, raising the point that the British disease of critisising all the time seems to be creeping onto the TVR side of PH more and more. Of course all are entitled to discuss whatever they feel, its an open forum, but over the last few months the trend is to knock everything rather than enthuse which I find sad. BTW mines a Stella ta
