You're not taking me down Shady Lane!
Discussion
I'm guessing only one person here will be laughing at my obscure thread title.... 'Rude girl' This woman is a star! My ever faithful Tuscan broke down 15miles after picking it up after a previous breakdown in the middle of nowhere so there was mr seething and gnashing my teeth watching yet another low loader devour my car and RG drives by and not only coordinates the recovery of my car but drives me round the countryside for the next 5 hours keeping me entertained with her own special brand of chat I take this opportunity to thank her again for all that she did. Its refreshing to know there are still good people out there. 3 cheers for rude girl!!!!!!!!!!
I would have been lost without her assistance FYI I live in Aberdeen and didn't have a clue: A) where I was B)Where to get my car taken C) How to get to the family wedding I was down in Engerland to attend. RG took it all in her stride whilst I was flapping about like a goldfish out of water.
Jury still out about the Tusc though car did same breaking down trick twice with guys from silerstone TVR (thumbs up to them for taking me in at very short notice) only common denominator so far seems to be that it cuts out when you bury the throttle perhaps its a throttle pot. problem.
Hiya Zaz
What a nice thing to say! But what can I say, the chaps were in stitches yesterday (over the lamb) when I told them the full story. Looking back, LA could write a whole screenplay on the events (more to the British sense of humour than our transatlantic cousins' though) of last Friday.
Brian - Zaz must have wondered who was accosting him - I wasn't in the Griff, I was coming back from a business meeting in the SuperSkoda (if you don't have them in the States then see here...www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=145&i=8014)
This of course completely confused the recovery bloke, who was then torn between slagging off the skoda or the tuscan
. You really had to be there to see his face; I suppose that the kind of fellowship you get with TVR ownership had never crossed his path before. I suspect the bit that went 'are you a Pistonheader?'...'yeah, who are you then?' is what pushed him over the edge
.
Hm, don't you lot go making me out to be nice and wrecking my image - I know stuff about some of you and I'm not afraid to blab!
Truth is that I've been rescued a couple of times when something has gone wrong with the Griff - always trivial, but still when the kindness of strangers (a mention here then for Psychobert, Steve Guglielmi and Racing Green
) has seen me driving home rather than coming back on a low loader. Anyway, I just happened to have the right phone numbers in my mobile - real thanks are to Joospeed, who talked us through automotive CPR, and particularly to Matt, Steve and Mark at Silverstone TVR, who took the car in and were (I thought) really reassuring. Besides - guest in our country etc etc.
Turned out that Zaz and I have a similarly surreal sense of humour. What else would make two complete strangers set off in search of a wedding that interests neither in a remote Leics village without a map? And then bicker constantly about which direction to go next like an old married couple
? And (just to explain the thread title) to simultaneously p1$$ themselves laughing when they passed a side road named 'Shady Lane'?
Anyway Zaz, you're welcome mate. It was a hoot as it turned out, and I hope the Tuscan hiccup is sorted soon. Give us a shout when you come to get it and I'll see if we can sort out a mini-meet at a local pub. Shall we order chicken for you?
and finally.... I came home the same way we went and did a recce. It was a rear-facing camera - datums were the other side
Phew

Glad to hear the speed camera was a dud I'll sleep a lot better tonight. Def be in touch on my return for the glitterball mini pub meet would be fun. I hope you bought yourself a nice bottle of chateau neuf de pappe for your trouble. My family were most upset that you never came into the pub especially after saving the golden child(my brothers words not mine) as for the chicken it was lovely I heartily reccommend the black horse in houghton on the hill, not very easy to find incidentally, and the price of diesel in the local garages brought tears to rude girls eyes I swear! Or perhaps it was just my jokes........ Look forward to meeting more of you in the future although hopefully not in the same way as I met the rude one.
