Hi guys, need help........have been a little forgetful of late, and somewhat in the sh*t...

Basically, my car road tax runs out at the end of the month, the MOT ran out a week ago, and today the speedo stopped working!

So...can anyone tell me anything good about Scole Engineering in Diss, as thats pretty close to Norwich. I hear they like TVR's but whats the general feel about them.

Are they a TVR specialist (or not) would they be likely to be able to fix the speedo if its more than just a loose cable...?

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but is a non-working speedo an MOT failure (if not at least it would buy me a few days), I'm sure it is but then, I've never had to ask before.

And since all this is probably not going to get sorted out until after the road tax runs out, should I give DVLA a quick call to say please don't fine me, its in the garage getting an MOT..?

Agreed, they wont test your speedo, give DVLA a call to see how many days grace they give, but don't panic..

If it's going to take weeks to get it mot'd, just tick the sorn box on your licence app. form.

I have been using Scole for my servicing and repairs for a couple of years. To my knowledge, they don't advertise as TVR specialists but they do service, maintain and modify a lot of Suffolk/ Norfolk TVRCC members cars, which is how I got to know of them. I have been very happy with the service and haven't heard of any other complaints.

Cheers Guys,

Thanks for that. Called my garage, they told me the speedo isn't an MOT requirement (as you guys pointed out) but it is an offense for it not to be working.

So at least I can get the MOT and tax now, and the speedo repaired asap after that...phew panic over....!

And finally, also called the DVLA out of interest, you get 14 days grace on the road tax, and the fine is issued on the 15th.

BTW: Barcadi, thats a nice colour on your Griff...

Scole Engineering are very good. I have used a number of the official dealers and specialists and they are the best I have met thus far. They are very good value and take a pride in their work and are genuinely interested in cars. They get my vote.

As already mentioned they do an awful lot of the Suffolk/Norfolk TVRCC members and I have not heard any gripes apart for speed of service (but then if you want the best you normally have to either pay or wait, or both and I can't say they are expensive).

Now if they can just sort out a clean feed for the traction control and full throttle shift we will be well away!!!

Richard

p.s. have no connection with them apart from a very happy customer.
