New Cerbera Alarm Woes

My Brother has just purchased a lovely Ruby Mica Cerb C8 WOW if any of you know it?
Well he's had the car 2 weeks and encountered his first problem, his only remote key fob has appeared to of given up!!!!
I am going to get a couple of new batteries this morning and run them back for him to see if that will fix it, but having run a voltmeter across them they look to be in good nic.
If this doesn't work can anyone give me the lowdown on how the hell we sort this prob out. The manual tells you about the emergency door release that is in the boot, but the boot is locked!!!!!
