Skid Pan & Fish Tailing Fun!

Now that we've got our Griff in top shape, we're looking for a skid pan or similar where we can 'let it all hang out'.

1. For Fun!
2. To give my lady and I a good practice at how it feels 'when the back end goes out' and
3. Because I want to try one of those 'Knight Rider reverse 180 degree turn thingies!!!'

Importantly - I'd like an organsied venue with expert advice / supervision and a smooth wet surface (hopefully not to get TOO much tyre churn or stone chips) - is that possible!?

Anyone been to one they would recommend (We live in Surrey - but hey we'll drive anywhere) - or in fact interested themselves, then suggestions welcome or even organise a group for a discount and make a day of it!

Hi Martin,

Not a skid pan but the Lotus 1st course held at North Weald is great if you wanna see what its like to get your car out of shape, and to be able to correct it.

I've often wondered about getting on a skid pan but never really bothered searching for one.

Have a word with a local traffic cop and see if they have a facility that you could use?

Most importantly, make sure you don't pick up any stone chips on that mega paintwork of yours!

I did one at the Lincs. police skid pan, organised by the TVRCC area. Learned absolutely loads, and had a good time too. Can't recommend one highly enough.

Don't 'Ride Drive' offer skid pan training as part of their 2-day course?

I intend to do some training with them later this year, based upon all the positive reports I've read about them.

I've been on a police skid pan in their training cars and it was superb fun. Having seen it, I would never ever consider taking a TVR on it, it would be absolutely ruined by being drenched and pelted with oily gravelly gunge. The training cars were real dogs and had to be scraped down with a yard brush after each event.

I agree with lazyitus.. talk to Andy at Lotus 1. I did the day at North Weald along with a Chimera, Exige and Elise. Fast cornering, steering and ciruit work. Fab day, well priced, and in this weather.. it'll be a skid pan anyway.
