Is the old Reims grandstand still standing ?

When we went to Le Mans via Reims in 2003 we visited the old Reims circuit to try and get some photos by the grandstands. The bl**dy French had dug up the road so we had to go across country(through a field!) to get to it. We were chipping bits of hardcore, mud and muck off the Tivs for days. Have they knocked them down yet or are they still standing?.

We're off on Le Surrey Run 2 next weekend and wondered about a small detour to visit the circuit (well what's left of it!)

was still there last year when i was there with rude girl, took about a hundred pics cos of the rumour they were going to be pulling it down.
it's a truly stunning place especially if you look hard behind the undergrowth to the old writing on the granstands and front walls.
take a drive around the back of the circuit tho, you can see the gates for the old car park, the underpass and if anything it's better preserved than the front part, plus you get a great sense of the straight leading up to the pits themselves, working on the pit wall must have been frightening with car speeds being not much slower in a straight line than they are today !!
totally worth a visit if you're even remotely inetersted in grand prix racing and it's heritage.

We have a factory in Reims, so I can check with the factory manager to see if its still standing.

They had put in a roundabout at the end of the straight near Gueux for housing development, hence the road past the grandstands and pits being closed for some time. The roundabout makes it useful to check there is no traffic coming before a blast down the straight passed the grandstands.
Well worth a look around the back of this stand to see if you can find the BP logo made from mosaic tiles.
Editted to say that having just looked at the link above the pavilion has had some restoration since we were there so I would assume that its not going to be pulled down.

Thanks everyone. We were there just as the sun was going down. There are some lovely photos on the Surrey website (www.tvrcc-surrey.co.uk), have a look at our Le Mans trip 2003. I will certainly include this in Le Surrey Run as it is such a fantastic place to visit. We'll be there next Saturday morning. I hope they restored the road as off-roading in a Tiv is an experience not to be repeated.
