Car cleaning on trips!

Ok folks, we are off for 7 days touring around France in the Tamora. I am curious to know if anyone cleans there TVR when they are away? I have collapsable buckets and things like that, but I think I might be a bit of a sad git if I do that. What do you do?

Glass cleaner and kitchen roll, windscreen, mirrors (4) and headlights.

We always have our driver follow us around Europe in the Bentley with all that cleaning paraphenalia, he takes care of all that tedious cleaning etc. whilst we relax by the hotel pool sipping Singapore Slings and reading the latest copy of Sprint.
We get to enjoy our hols and the TIV looks tip top throughout the trip! Simple really

No, I don't! Cleaning cars (including my Tamora) is a chore!

I find cleaning a car (only my own mind) very relaxing!

Clean it !

You are abroad and have a duty to exhibit Blackpools finest looking its finest.

Autoglyms spray on showroom polish is a must for foriegn trips, you will get at least 5 or 6 coatings of the Tamora out of 1 £5 tin. Takes up virtually no space, spray on, wipe off, simple as that.

Yep, I do. In France you'll find an abundance of 'blue elephant' brand jet washes. OK, so you're not supposed to jetwash TVRs, but you can if you're careful. I'm taking a sponge, leather, windscreen wipes (windowlene - great for bug removal) and a few other bits with us on our trip next week. I won't clean the car all the time, but it will probably get at least one good wash during our trip.

Dont do it. The French authorities will take a dim view of you taking drugs into the country. The fact that you find it easier to clean your car while under the influence is not a legal defence, AFAIK.

I have some Meguiair's quick detailer and I am tempted so use that, is that the same? Ie dont wash just spray it on? Its the sense of duty that made me ask the question!

Sadly i have to agree with the closet urinater on this one...

A good wax before leaving then lots of fresh water sponged & leathered.

I have used those before, but having read all the dont what ever you do jet wash this car bits I was a little put off!

Wrap the whole of the car in several layers of clingfilm and then peel off as required.

Ive got a pack of what look like giant baby wipes called Instant Car Wash or something, that I got from Halfwits as a freebie, was attached to a bottle of car polish/wax or something. OK for daily grime removal, no need for a bucket of water or sponge. Dont know how well they would work with a really dirty mota (or how good they are for the paintwork!).

Stayed at a hotel in Oxford last week, asked the owner were the nearest car wash was, he offered me a bucket & sponge instead. Didnt offer to wash it for me tho, the lazy

I use that too! Keep it in the boot with some microfibre clothes and a couple of terry towels.

usually give it a quick clean when I get to a destination.. gets those flies off, etc.

Stay off the trips whilst cleaning your TVR or you might end up scrubbing the drive with your bare hands. If you *must* consume narcotics then may I suggest speed for getting the job done quickly?

Foldaway bucket, small sponge, chammy and pack of wet wipes for the flies. (removing them, that is!).

I am intrigued. doesn't it just scratch the feck out of the paint is you don't wash it first?
