Having the usual difficulties in sourcing 'home use' quantities of recommended fluids for diff and g/box ( BTR + T5 Chimp). Mobil only seem to supply in 20litres plus and no-one local to me stocks it anyway. One solution is to use Morris alternatives (Liquimatic Super ATF g/box and Lodexol XFS 80w/140 diff....both synthetics) that I'm told are suitable and available locally in reasonable amounts. Although I've seen the Morris logo and have been aware of the name in classic bike circles for some time, I've never used the stuff; recommended?

While on the subject of fluids, anyone know the definitive quantities needed? I've seen 1.4 - 3.6 litres mentioned variously for the g/box for instance and am not convinced the handbook is to be believed (or is it just fill 'til it dribbles?)

I tried to get some of that too and couldn't find anyone locally that could shift enough to make it worth while buying it in.

I went for Castrol Hypoy LS90 LSD Oil in the end. 5ltrs at £29.00 from demon-tweeks and Castrol SMX gear oil from Halfwits (about £25).

Pupp,
are you coming to the Northants meeting next Thursday? I can get you 5 litres of 85w/140 gearbox oil for about £15 if you still need it. It is Exol Athena HD, Let me know if its any good to you.

Thanks for the suggestions and offers guys, and thanks to Gamekeeper for spending 10 mins on the phone on the subject; appreciated

In the end, have now obtained some suitable stuff mail order via Teeside Autotech who impressed me with their service and information/advice. Mobil ATF SHC for the gearbox (avail ex stock in 1l packs) and Mobil VS500 for the diff, which is apparently near identical spec/formulation to the recommended SHC 80w 140ID, that was out of stock, but 'brewed' for BMW LSDs in particular (this to be decanted from bulk as is only supplied in 20+ litres). What a carry on
