tvr chimaera 400 chip

Hi anyone tried a chip in there 400 chimaera .does this ave to be done on a rolling road or can you buy one from say act and fit straight in .what sort of gains would i get from this .any good rolling road tuners in scotland that can be recomended.

If your car is standard the gains will be very little. Due to being up here no one that i know off can map the ECU up here.

Main man is Mark Adams who maps chims/griffs If you go after market ECU I know a few places with rollers that can re-map.

It all depends what you want from the car.

Hi scotty was looking for a bit more power dont we all.i have put a K@N air filter ,smooth bore induction kit and stainless manifolds on he tvr.the tvr runs well and pulls good through the gears good.was looking to put it on a rolling road and take it from there to see what power i have .do you know any good rolling road places that i could use .what price is a remap roughly and what would the bhp gain be ,have you done your tvr.thanks

TVR have already chipped the car to get as much from the ECU / Fueling as they can. If you want to make minor changes, you could fit a variable fuel pressure regulator, then rolling road check the mixture for maximum power by tweaking the pressure a psi or two either way. As long as the mixture is not far out to start with, then the ECU will just re-trim the mixture at less than full throttle to compensate for any changes you have made.

I would get it on the rollers first of all just to see how it is running. Not sure where abouts you are but i organised a rolling road day last year for the Scottish TVRCC guys at......

The guys are great and know there stuff, if you get a one to one session he will be able to give you a more detailed insight to how your car is running (opposed to doing a group session)

I used to have a Chim 400. I wanted more power so in the end i moved on to a Cerb 4.2. If i had known TVR power were going to bring out a turbo kit i would have kept it and done that. But i do love the Handling of my Cerb with the longer wheel base.

It is really down to what you want to spend. I would personally spend money on good suspension first before any major engine mods. Then i would do brakes like i did on my 400 i went for 4 pot wilwoods on it and it was a great mod.

If your closer to Ayrshire I know of a local chap who is off the radar with a rolling road so i can PM you his details. I use him from time to time.

hi thanks scotty i am in east lothian think we have meet at a tvr run before at menstrie castle .the turbo kit looks and sounds great with really good performance figures .but £5500 is a lot of money ,do you know if you can fit the turbo without the ecu and use original set up ,prob not .i would prob spend this much changing to a 500 so there is the dilema .got a rolling road time for next friday at whitburn .do you know anyone who has fitted a turbo to a 400 chim,cheers

I am sure if i see your car and face again it will click. I am not 100% on the turbo Kits but i think there are a few topics running on the chimaera section on them just now that might have the answer. Or give Dom a call. A good chim 500 will make around 270-290bhp a turbo chim 400 makes around 400 odd bhp Expensive yes but very very fast

Go after market ,you could start with a megasquirt plug&play and then go ignition later .

Mine went from 290 to 339.5bhp from the 14cux to Megasquirt.

Yes but your 14CUX set up was fooked in the first place- bit like saying I got a 20% power increase after fitting two plug leads back on....
