Page 13 in Autocar this week, suggests that there may be a price increase being announced later this week. Plus, the possibility of a model being dropped.
Would that be the Tamora? now they have a convertible Tuscan around the corner, or possibly the Cerbera. Carn't imagine it would be any of the other models in the range.
Anyone here heard any whispers?

Hi, I have heard from a long standing dealer that the model likely to be dropped is the Cerbera - which is now expensive to build in relation to the other cars.

Also from a friend waiting for delivery of his Cerbera which has been delayed for 10 weeks now that parts particularly for the AJP engine are proving hard to get this causing problems in completing his car.

I don't think they make many Cerbera's so why keep it?

That story (or fact!), is also in this months EVO mag, TVR are going to raise their prices across the board by 10%, but they have also added new layers of quality control, seems fair enough if we're guarenteed a top notch product, I guess,,, nothing mentioned about dropping one of the cars though!

Rumours at Thruxton at the weekend were:

i) Cerbera Dropped as it costs too much to make

ii) Sagaris delayed whilst development work takes place on engine

iii) Pretty much all dealers with the exception of Racing Green have lost their franchises. TVR intends selling directly from a couple of flagship showrooms.

iv) TVR to stop supporting the Tuscan challenge racing

v) Prices to be hiked

vi) Many new checks put in place in terms of quality at the factory

Not professing any of the above to be accurate but some of it seems to be emerging as true

All seems reasonable except for point iii regarding dealers. If TVR wish to increase/maintain volume can they do so with fewer outlets?

I heard earlier today that the Cerbera has definitely been dropped, and the last customer car has already been delivered.

Absolutely, dealers are required to provide new sales but also maintain the price of used cars. If there isn't a dealer network, used prices will dive meaning those that may have considered a TiV will plump for a bloody boxter or Z4 so they can sell it for something in a couple of years. (plus those with old ones will have to scape around to find out who supplied what so we can get it from the breakers yard!)

I can't believe this - what would everyone do for servicing?

Only 1 Cerbera being built this summer at the factory and it was due to be completed by early July, now not due till End September or Mid October.

If its the last one what about all us family guys thinking of changing up to 4 seats, me thinks the Porker people carrier is may be not a bad thing after all!!!!!!!

No now I have lost control of my mind!!!!!!

I would think that a number of regional franchises, covering all areas, but with a bigger concentraion in the south-east, where the market for TVR is biggest, makes sense.

HL Gorner, for example, has rapidly built a good reputation for customer service and seems a very professional outfit - why lose that?

The Cerbera was next in line to be replaced, but it looks like ther will be a hiatus until a replacement model is designed and built.

The current dealer practice, of being forced to buy a certain number of cars each month, the try to sell them, should end. The cars need to sell on merit, and dealer loyalty has been severely tested in the past by such rather odd practices, which might work fine for fleet sales, but not niche markets, where cars are bought by choice by discerning, knowledgeable customers, who are already sold on the car before they step into a showroom.

There's an awful lot of stuff happening to TVR - Mr. Smolenski is making all the right moves, and so far seems committed to the marque - he's made a big investment, and I'm sure he wants to see a decent return on his money, plus he appears to be a petrolhead, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen over the next 2-3 years. Exciting times ahead, I reckon!

They are going to cease production on current models when they reach 500. They will then bring out a couple of new models.

Mrs Fish - are you saying they'll not build more than 500 of any one model?

Still a dealer and should be a TVR flagship in my humble opinion.

My point was, that if they're going to start closing dealerships, this woul dbe very harsh on someone like Silverstone who have just got set up.

Fully agree with your sentiments though.

You're right Colin, I think it would be madness to drop it without a replacement in the pipeline.

Makes the Maseratti Quatroporte look even more inviting.

Why is it madness to drop it if it makes them no money?!
