Is it worth refurbing split rim wheels?

I can remember reading on here someone who had a set of OZ wheels refurb'ed but the quality was poor (pitted etc) and they took them some place else with a much better outcome. I have had a search but can't find the thread.
My question is - where was the good place? Was it split rim clinic and also roughly what was the cost?
From what I recall oz split rims are pricey to have properly refurbished. I am starting to wonder if the cost is worth it, I have been looking at the wheels from Image wheels and I can't see the difference from OZ and Images DM ones (I am sure somebody will be along soon to point out the diff):

So a brand new set of these will be about £1,200 but buying a second hand set of OZ and then getting them refurbished will cost more than that. Is it just the TVR originality that the OZ offer that people are willing to pay for?

Now I'm in two minds over just getting something like that over the OZ/Image DMs...

A lot of refurb places won't touch split rims. I had the same problem on my old E39. I did find a place, but it was more expensive and this price was dependant if all the bolts came out okay/ didn't fracture with fatigue. All the wheels then have to be put back together again, each bolt with Loctite and torqued to the correct setting.
I found a pair of really good condition used single piece rims on Fleabay and swapped the tyres over, then sold the split rims on. Only cost me £100 in the end. If you are looking for a refurn place, Lepsons do them in Kent I think www.lepsons.com. Personally, I find that any polished/ split wheel looks great, but is a complete pain to maintain, normally resulting in tearing the ends of your fingers off on the rim bolts when trying to polish or clean them. Diamond cut are better, but won't last in the winter months. A decent painted coat... last for ages!!! Just my two cents...

Having had split rims on the z4, most reputable wheel refurb places will do them.
I had mine done from Wheel Genie in Huntingdon. Cambs.
Once done, keep clean etc, wash down every do often more than you wash the car and apply some shampoo to reduce acid wear and corrosion which can happen with the split rims

Has anyone else seen the last two sets of these sell through Ebay? A set finished just now. £644 in a usuable condition but could really do with a full refurb. So what would a mint set be worth with tyres? £1000? If so then if you have a set already you can't lose money having them refurbed which is rarely the case with wheels.
