My first TVR experience!

Let me first say that I have found the truth about TVR’s. they are in awesome.

Spent my weekend at summit point raceway surround by good cars and good racing. And when I wandered over to the smaller solo circuit to see what was going on I didn’t expect to see what I actually saw. Some amazing cars sitting around:

But my favorite one was the TVR there. Came upon it as it was waiting in line for its run and I noticed an interesting beauty in it. From when it was just standing there to when it started up and that beautiful exhaust note filled the air. I had no idea what it was at first, but as it pulled up to the starting line I caught a glimpse of the two badges on the back. TVR and Vixen. I was in awe.

Managed to chat with the owner after his run. He was a great chap with a great passion for good cars. He has owned it for the past 8 years and tracks it as well as using it as a street machine. When I even mentioned piston heads he said he knew of the site but doesn’t frequent it as much as he used to. I set off soon after and came back later that day for one last glimpse of the car before I left. The paddock was clearing out and was nearly empty at the time, and had another chat with the owner. Much to my surprise he asked me if I wanted a ride. There was no way I would turn that down. He took me for a quick blat around the paddock, and it was incredible being surrounded by the glorious sound of it, and the way it asked to be driven was awesome. That will be one day I never forget. My TVR addiction has been satisfied for the time being, but now I have a greater need to get myself over to Britain and check out some of the newer ones.

and an inspiration for laxxers. Why get a body get when you could have a spoiler that big.

They were actually racing it too.

Believe me - they would have needed it. Not sure what engine that was running but in my younger days I had a 2.8 Turbo version for a while. Now the basic Capri was tail happy enough and as you went up the engine scale they got more so. Stick a turbo on it and it was hard enough to keep the bloody thing in a straight line let alone go round bends.

It was not unusual for people to go round with bags of cement in the boot for extra weight.

The car looks like an American Ford torino / Cougar to me?? Dont think it is european. Look at the rear bumper which gives the game away a little.

You don't have to go that far, Brian. At Woodwork (in New Jersey) on October 10th you'll be able to see dozens of TVRs, from 1957 Jomars to 1994 Griffiths.

Umm, photobucket sized down the first few but I guess not the last couple. Hmm, stupid thing. Ill see what I can do.
