Four post ramp dimensions help
Discussion
Hi all looking for someone who has the movable 4 post ramps that were the subject of a long thread a while back to do a quick measurement for me. The height in my garage to the bottom of the roof beams is 2.6m but I can position the ramp so that the griff window screen will be between the beams so I could in theory lift the griff until the bonnet/boot is 2.5m high. What I'd like to know is with the drip trays etc fitted how much clearance would I have under the ramp to store another car?
Cheers.

Not sure if this directly answers your question, but...
My garage is 3.1 M from floor to roof. I have just measured approximately and with my lift as it is currently set I have 1.58 clearance on top leaving 1.4 m below.
I have loads of space to easily fit the Chimaera below (I am pretty sure I could drop it a further notch so circa 10cm, perhaps even two notches.)
The ramps themselves are 11cm and none of the drip trays etc encroach any further. The jacking beam does sit below the ramps by a couple of cm, however, since this can be moved to either end it should not be a problem.
Happy to wander back into the garage and take any measurements you need.

Thanks Matt that was quick. Not sure if I'm 100% following you as I can be a little slow..........so would you mind doing me another quick measurement and raise your Chim so the hight from the floor to the highest point on the boot or bonnet (whichever is highest) is 2.5m and then measure the clearance underneath. Sorry if that's what your already trying to tell me.......and many thanks.

So, my Chimaera is roughly 90 cm from floor to highest bit of boot or bonnet (No engine at the mo so it is sitting slightly high).
The ramps are about 10cm so a total of 1m including the car body and ramps.
Given where the lift sits you end up with 1.4m under the lift which gives you a total height of circa 2.4m. You need to be able to raise the lift to disengage the catch before letting down so this needs to be factored in.

Do you mean like this ?
It's not quite so simple... Because sods law means... although two cars fit....The ramp is not necessarily on its stops , plus you have to go a few inches above the stops to drop down. A hole in the roof helps, but I had to block the corner posts up with metal plates to get the right height (within a few millimetres!!!) .

Yes that's exactly what i mean, i really need the ability to store another car underneath or it's a non starter for me. As mentioned there are a few variables involved here so i need to double check it all in particular the extra hieght the lift needs raising to engage the locks. Can i ask you how high your ceiling is there?

Plus a hole in the roof.
