Wife wants to get her arse out...
Discussion
OK - I would have posted this on General Gassing but you get a better class of loon on the TVR forums.
Was sat at home with Jo last night and passed her the current Top Gear magazine which had a couple of pages about Oversteer and what causes it etc. and she said "I'd love to have a go at that".
Anyway - thinking it might make an unexpected bit of a suprise for her I'm wondering where the hell I could get her some hooning experience. Easiest would be something like a Ride Drive airfield day I guess but at the moment we don't have cars that lend themselves to that kind of driving (low powered front wheel drive diesels I'm afraid). Anyone got any suggestions as to where I could get her some sideways (or any other which way) action?

Can't you just sit here in front on the TV and play her "here but for the grace of god" ..
I did - that's one of the reasons she wants to do it herself ... apparently "It looks fun"
I also made the mistake of showing her the clip that was posted up fairly recently of someones GF (was it Ehaslers?) doing her first doughnuts ... She reckons that looks fun too!

How about the Caterham Slalom day - 1 place left I believe? Check out the link on the PH home page.

Just looked and it seems to be sold out - damn! That would have been fun...
...thing is she's never done any "hooning" before so I'm looking for somewhere where someone will teach her what to do.

Playstation 2: World Rally Championship...yayGreat cornering fun!
Have both PS2 and XBox at home - but it's just not the same.

You can tell Jo that I, too, fancy a bit of that action!![]()
Mmmmm ... I'll take the camera down for that!
So if I do find anything suitable for getting Jo down to then are you interested as well Roz?

I've been on a corporate track day at Brands Hatch which involved a few different track and off road bits and bobs. Whilst the track time was a bit bobbins (limited to 3000 rpm due to the relatively close proximity of the armco), the rally experience was an absolute hoot with plenty of easily achieved sideways action and handbrake turning. The day also included a spot of auto-grassing in something called an Apache (I think) which again involved lots of 'arse out' action.
I'm sure you can do some of this type of thing thru' Red Letter Days or some such company...

Thanks ... anyone know whether they're OK days or are they a bit girlie-wuss?
This is looking fairly much like what she'd enjoy though:

I recently did a half day advanced driving, it included an hour and a half on an airfield doing donuts, braking at 90 mph, spinning and high speed manouvres in and out of cones. The most fun I have ever had(well almost) and I am going to do it again in the spring. It has increased my confidence in the Tiv, down side is you use your own car but the insurance company was ok about it. Few stone chips but what the heck when you have that much fun.
