Good Driver ???

Well, I have had the Tuscan (my first TVR) about 2and a Half months, and loving every minute behind the wheel.

I like to think I am a good driver (well don't we all)However, nobody knows everything.

Is there anywhere I can go to improve my driving skills ? The Tuscan is an awsume car, but I somtimes feel I could drive a bit better (faster) and understand the handling etc a bit more.

Does anyone have any ideas ? advanced drivers courses or driving craft etc or do I need to have a go on a track? (if so can I borrow someones car, I dont want to risk mine)

I think a lot of people will recommend a Ride Drive session...

From what I've read on here they seem to be very good for getting to know your car...

Ive done about 7 days with Andy Walsh of www.carlimits.com - great VFM and excellent tuition on the safety of an airfield - highly recommended

Track day with tuition, no question. Its a relatively safe environment to learn, no pressure to go faster than you and your instructor are comfortable with, the instructor will explain what you're doing right and wrong and ensure you keep it on the black stuff.

When I've had my first new paycheck would have been a better time, but now is good.. I should be around next week to drop off laptops and so on at work; when I know when I'll drop you a line..

I'd highly recommend Ride Drive having done a half day last year, I'm also intending to do another when I get the Cerbera.

However these courses (the road ones at least) are not for handling so much as positioning and awareness, they make you a safer driver yet able to progress quickly due to an enhnaced understanding of what is around you and where danger might lie. Most of it is common sense but we're not taught to drive, just pass a simple test and over the years we do forget also.

However if you want to know about skid control, handling at the edge, the track is the only place to do it...

Doing both types of course is the best option
