I'm thinking of changing my 996 turbo for either a T350 or a Tuscan. I would only expect to do 3-4000 miles a year. Can anyone recommend a good independent for servicing/maintenance in the north east of Scotland. Any other advice would be very welcome.

TVR Ecosse are based in Dundee; I've no info about them other than that. They might not be NE enough for you though; no doubt the TVRCC Scotland guys will be able to help you - worth going to a meeting and you don't have to join the TVRCC to do that either.

Hi Pedro! Am from Fochabers but also stay in Aberdeen, i have a Tuscan S. There is quite a few members up here and we arrange a few get togethers etc thorought the year. As for servicing i use Barry Martin at TVR Eccosse, hes very helpfull and cant fault his service, you will see plenty happy customers of his on here. He is also the regional organiser for meets etc and will defo be worth a call.

Afternoon:

Take your time and do your homework. There is quite a few of us up here in NES that dabble or have dabbled in the delights of TVR's.

My experience would suggest casing your net far and wide. Hexham HC is well known to may of us up here, as is Jason at Sra8six.

Barry also is a well kent loon to us all. Standard rules apply. Condition and good maintenance over age. For Tuscan's I would try to aim for a Mk2. Mk 1's can be real twitchy buggers unless well set up (a good geo and Nitron's help here). Mk 2's have a slower rack, and takes some of the known twitchyness out of the steering. Also (and I am talking generally here, for every topper there can be a honker) Mk 2's are a bit better screwed together.

In terms of a T350? I will wait for Baz to turn up here to advise.

Happy looking and hopefully buying. They are addictive cars.

Well, if you do come South of the Border, you can always talk to Tony at Hexham H C and also James at TVR Mads.

I've had cars from both companies in the past and have been very pleased with the service.

All,

Thanks for the replies. In terms of buying I would be OK with travelling 2-300 miles maybe further, its just for servicing/maintenance I would like to keep things fairly local. I live just north of Aberdeen so Dundee wouldn't be a problem.

Get RAC cover. Break down (ahem) and have it trucked away to Hexham / Sta8six / Powers etc....

Not that I have heard of anyone do that!

If you are prepared to travel Tony Gilbert is a first class dealer.
I bought my 2006 T350C from him last July. Car is fantastic/service and after care great too.
I have has 3 TVR's over the years and can say that the T250C/T is the best sorted one I have driven. Having said that the Tamora is a real great drive too - but I have always preferred the T350.
Take a look on his web site.
Good hunting.

Good lad! I waited 3 months and ended up flying to London to buy my Tuscan S and drove it to Aberdeen, in January in one hit! If you want to go out for a spin just drop me a private message. In terms of T350s Barry Fergus is the man in the know in this area, a Former regional Organiser and owns a lovely Targa.

Also Aberdeen here, never used the chap in Dundee, always sent my T350 to tvr power for servicing and rebuild, now in a sag and can't decide who to use when it comes to service time, its a toss up between str8 six/power/hexham but since learning of tvr-ecosse I'd be silly not to give them a call too.

If go for a mk2 Tuscan if I had to make your choice.
