Picked the car up from service at Peninsula on Tuesday but my glee was shortlived. Managed to get a huge stone chip in my windscreen on the way home. Only had it replaced last year. Yesterday morning, took the roof off and the rear screen simply split in the cold morning air as I folded it down. Then last night I get a puncture in the front near side (although luckily when I was parking and not 5 minutes earlier on the motorway).
I know it depends on the damage (didnt have time to investigate), but is it wise to get Z rated tyres repaired? I havent used tyre weld or anything. I dont plan on doing any track days but I think I would always worry that its never going to be quite as safe. Theres still a fair bit of tread on it though. If I replace it would I also have to replace the off-side? Its the original Eagle F1 with directional tread and you cant get these any more in 15" (unless anyone knows differently) so it would look crap with different tyres on the front. Is it safe having different tyres on the front and rear?

Depending on how much wear there is on the off-side tyre you could get away with replacing just the near-side, however if you cannot source another Eagle F1 you don't want different types of tyre on the same axle.
Different tyres front and back isn't so much of an issue, but it would depend on the mix, if the two axles have tyres that behave very differently under certain circumstances, primarily in the wet, you may encounter some nighmare handling situations!
How bad's the puncture Jamie? Is it a 'picked up a nail' type puncture in the tread area? Or is it into the sidewall?

They even quoted me under £85 for new 225/50/15 Eagle F1 GS D3's (they come in GS D2 tread pattern), fitted and balanced. Cheaper than blackcircles.com! Even got 'em in stock. Still a fair bit of tread left yet though, but will be buying new boots from them for sure.
