Hello everyone,
So its that dreaded time of the year again..... MOT time!
Not a good time for our normal car but for us passionate Tiv owners.... giving your pride and joy to someone you dont know.... Not a nice feeling.
This year will be the first to take my Tiv (Mk2 Tuscan S) through an MOT and im looking for advice and comments before I do.
My initial thoughts were:
Ensure the car is fully warmed up (Performed by taking a nice divertion to the MOT station)
Staying with the car (Incase they get stuck in or our of the car etc).
I seem to remember someone had concerns about the brake test on a car with an LSD? Can anyone shine any light on this?
Anyway your comments / findings / advice is all welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Have your normal TVR specialist do the MOT at same time as the annual service?So its that dreaded time of the year again..... MOT time!

They will know all the special requirements or exemptions applicable, and how to treat it too!

The issue with LSD cars is that the brake efficiency test should NOT be done on a brake roller machine, but the car is driven and a "Tapley" meter placed in the pass. footwell to determine brake performance.

I have the same car as yours & the biggest piece of advice I can give:- you MUST remove your bonnet before you go for the test!! I learned this the hard way not doing this - by having my windscreen washers melted, grp above the exhausts split & paintwork on the bonnet cracked due to the huge heat build up during the emissions test. Some cable ties holding pipework also gave up & this was just the visible damage - There may have been more I hadnt seen. The following year I made sure it was off when I went down there & stood around the engine compartment - the heat given off by the engine is just immense, & is all cocooned up in the fibreglass body if you don't take this precaution.
Before the test, take it out for a punt when the oil is fully warm - find a steep fast hill, use full throttle in a high gear to give it a good clear out. This will help any car through the emissions test.
Not much else you can prepare other than all the obvious stuff like checking your lights etc. Good luck!!

Unfortunetly the service is not due, whats mpre the nearest dealer is 2 hours away

Thanks for removing my fears about the LSD.
Brill piece of advice about the bonnet, il be sure to take my socket and give them a subtle, "want to see the engine?" Before the test.
As you say all the others are a bit of a given.

I always stay with the car when taking to a local MOT station. One time, I waited in the waiting room and heard the horn going,thought thats a bit more than a test - he couldnt get out, didnt know where the button was.
Taken it to same place for last few years, so dont get asked so much now.
