Initial Problems with 3000M!!

Hi Guys,

Well I picked my 3000M up on Saturday, she is very nice, however, there are a few problems already.

On the drive home the steering wheel felt like it was going to shake out of my hands once it got above 70mph, I've had all four wheels balanced and this has reduced the shaking but it's still quite bad...any advice!!!

also it does not like starting when the engine is hot...it starts from cold perfectly but if I stop the car and try and start it a few minutes later it is a pig to get it to start again!! any advice? (maybe something to do with the auto choke!!)

The fan heater inside the car doesn't appear to work either...

Any advice would be appreciated, also if someone could recommend a good garage in the Norfolk/Cambs area, where I could get someone to give her the once over, I would appreciate it.

Offord motor co is the place to do, a little far from Norfolk though.

However the 3000m is is a reasonably simple bit of kit I would have thought any place that had some knowledge of classic cars (ie they cannot just sjove a laptop into it and fix it) would be able to sort it for you.

the issue with the steering could be to do with the steering rack brackets where it fixes to the chassis - if they are original the rubber bush could have worn away/perished which would cause it to wander around or cause some shake in the steering, alternatively if they have been replaced with alloy mounts then it may be a case that the bolts need tightening up a bit! could also be worn steering U/J's - it's all Triumph parts so readily available.

the fan/starting issue could be to do with an airlock in the cooling system? especially as you mention the auto choke which I believe is all linked up in some way (I'm no great expert so don't take my word for it!) worth trying to flush it through.

Exactly TVR in Coventry are an authority on the M series and worth a visit to get a good idea of your car.

Looks like taking it to Exactly TVR sounds like a good idea.

Problem is it's 100 miles away and the only car I have is the TVR...I don't mind driving there but I'll be stuck in Coventry if they need the car for more than a day!!!
