Waving at fellow TVR drivers.

On the way back home from Croft in the Cerb, I spotted a blue Chim. We were travelling slowly over the speedbumps toward each other, so gave him a flash - nothing, got a bit closer so gave him a wave - nothing. It's just nothing but plain rude!
If I spot any other interesting cars, I tend to give a thumb up or something. A lovely looking Cobra was turning onto a roundabout so gave him a thumbs up. Totally blanked me, despite me sitting in a bright red Cerb in his field of vision. Maybe I shouldn't have parked in his field
I know the whole wave/not wave has been done before, it's just annoying when you do wave and you get blanked. It leaves you sitting in a car with your thumb up looking like a pratt. Or maybe I am just a pratt

I always try and wave (usually like a complete lunatic, head out of window, shouting loudly too). But I know I feel guilty if I don't acknowledge somebody. When I first drove the Tuscan back from Yorkshire I passed two Tuscan's going the other way near Melton Mowbray - the light was behind them, so it didn't register for a moment and I was very busy trying to get things right in my new car.
I bet both drivers thought what a ****** I was for not bothering to acknowledge them.....
I did wave - but it was about half a mile further on down the road when my reaction time caught up!

In the TVR I used to get waves etc from other Tiv owners (except some Chimeara owners for some strange reason)... I used to love popping up the front lights for a good old flash
In the Caterham ANYTHING resembling a sports car used to flash and wave...
I think people that don't wave back are just introverted and scared of interaction with other owners? (or they haven't seen you)
how on earth would you have noticed them waving. Claire, Dustyc and myself followed you in 3 different cars more than 10 miles when you took that bird on a date and you didnt notice us despite driving straight past at one point

I had a PT Cruiser hire car on my holidays and I got a wave of a fellow Cruiser. Even though I hated the car, I had to wave back and acnowledge him, it'll have probably been his P&J.
I can understand passing people on normal roads, as you have other things to concentrate on and you might genuinely not notice the other car or are going too fast to realise.
When I've waved to fellow Tiv drivers it has always been reciprocated. However, I guess it comes down to individual personalities. Some people are naturally more sociable than others.
I have noticed, although it's not always the case, that other drivers who have the same make of car are more likely to be courteous towards you on the roads, eg, letting you out of side-roads etc. It is, of course, difficult to say whether that is because they have the same taste in cars or they're simply being polite regardless of this fact.

Similar thing with the new crop of Rotary owners - have waved or flashed (lights!) at many RX-8 drivers only to be blanked. Occasionally you get one who recognises the 7 as being related and they at least nod! Never had that problem with other 7 owners.
It may have something to do with people who are generally enthusiasts will wave back. People who just like the status symbol probbaly won't.

I've just moved to the country, and I've noticed that people driving through my village who I've never seen before give a wave as they go by .... now I'm sure this is very nice and all that, but I'm from South London. If someone there was waving at my my natural reaction is to be very wary, a kind of "who the f**k are you ?" reaction.
But I do wave at other TVR's - also Cobra's, Old corvettes and anything else that wants to (exchanged waves with a Bugatti the other day...)
