Restricted use insurance?

Hi all,

I've been around the forums a bit recently trying to scope out some cars I've been thinking about. I was considering a fun daily, but now I've been offered a garage I'm thinking of keeping my uninspiring car for the commute and having something fun for the summer. I've seen a couple of reasonable looking Chimaeras for under 8k, but was wondering about insurance...

I'm sure this has come up many times before, so apologies for not being able to find anything recent, but can anyone give any pointers on insuring a TVR just for the summer months? Presumably I'll want 12 month insurance in case the car disappears from the garage over the winter, but I only want it covered for driving for 6 months, perhaps. Is such a policy possible?

restricted mileage it's the best bet, that's what mine it's on, it's used far to little as well

It would never work.

There are some winter days when you get up, it's clear, it's crisp, it's damn cold and the only thing to do is wrap up warm, drop the roof and go.

You are wasting golden opportunities and loosing half the fun of the car. As said, limited mileage policy will see you right.

I guess I could get it on a really low mileage policy and be ok - I don't even rack up that many miles on my daily any more..

I'll look up some policies - apparently Adrian Flux don't do multicar, so I guess I could be moving somewhere else.

Do you have to have multi car? If you've a garage you can get it on a classic policy, don't need no claims bonus, restricted miles, cheap as chips.

Sweet, thanks for the advice! Yes, if I take the garage I've been offered I can have something exciting tucked away for the weekend and keep the Golf TDI parked on the street with my no claims and the scuffs at each corner

Why insure for 6 months, I am going to have to save up a bit at the moment as my renewal this year has gone up £2 ! £132 for 12 months joy

Ring around & ask for a limited milage 'Classic' policy. Mine's around £250, fully comp for 3000 miles.
